Grinning...you're funny, cynlee...hehe No, it just seemed that when I get a chance to cruise the galleries, mostly I see pats on the back. There is a portion (written by R'City) that says someething about helpful comments for improving the art. So, I try to think of anything I can in case the artist really meant it to be like that...helpful comments. Since there are so many comments on the back, I wondered if that had become the de facto standard...and if it was "rude" to actually make suggestions. Yes, I am small. Won a few contests in my life...mostly in the army. And sold about $1,000 worth of prints. To me, that is small. SO, that's how small I am. (grin)

Hi Chuck. This old post might help with your question :O)Those who do not want to imitate anything, produce nothing. Salvador Dali
mysnapz: Thanks for the link. Interesting reading and some thoughtful comments in it. I'll keep making comments with "tip-toe" words. I certainly don't want to "crush" anyone and hopefully, the gentle suggestions I have made, and will make, will be received as "a thought from another photographer's viewpoint". No more, no less. I would hope others would do the same for me.
Yes its very hard to know how to pitch your comments The one thing you dont have with the written word is expression, I some times make comments and I am sure the word have come out all wrong, if you know what I mean? I am a great one for saying what you feel and if a picture grabs me I like to rave on, but I find myself somewhat restrained if I dont like a picture, I guess in the real world face to face with someone I would do the same. So I kind of apply real world rules when commenting. When posting my own work I now ask for feedback and ask direct questions on things that I would like feedback on This work well I think people are keen to respond when invited. I did at one point ask if we could have a feedback icon to post but I think now the direct questions work better. Please continue to comment on peoples work its one of the reasons I post here. :O)

Well, I always try to remember that everyone makes their work with the best intentions, within their own limitations. I've thought about the same thing a lot too, just as anyone else, I'm sure, but I guess everyone just likes to have some nice constructive feedback, that keeps the 'engine running' :)

...I don't think I'm a great photographer. I don't always have time to "wander" through the gallery like I wish I could. But when I do, I take the opportunity to make what I think might be constructive suggestions. I also realize artistry is a many-splendored thing. I just say what is on my mind and hope it makes the author take a look and think about what I have said. I never mean any disrespect. It's just a small opinion from a small person.
