Subject: feather models?

Does anyone know where I could find a model of a feather? On a somewhat-related note, someone mentioned not being able to find models of small birds a couple days ago, there's one at 3dcafe.

Couldn't you just map one onto a lattice?

If you dont need very much detail in the feather you can use one of the stock plants that comes with Bryce.. click on the little triangle beside the "Create" menu..and look in the "trees" section monkeying with various textures I was able to get a pretty decent one. Also, i've even seen the leaves off the Bryce palm trees used as a feather backdrop.. if I recall right, it was a sorta Pinup poser scene.

If 2D pic objects are OK, Here's a link to a search for feather in free stuff here. There are several sets of 2D feathers, which you can make into 2D pic objects fairly easily, even map them to flattened spheres to give them an added dimension.

Sorry, that link won't work. If interested, you'll have to do your own "search" keyword feather. In the meantime, I found a feather object here. Looks like it might already be a Bryce object, judging by the pic.

Here's what the models (.obj) look like in Bryce. You have to add your own texture. Here I used some procedural wood textures and 20% transparency. I think it's a pretty good fake of what a feather looks like.

3d cafe had a quill pen and inkwell in their free furniture stuff a year ago.

Thank you all so much for your help! I actually hadn't even thought of using a lattice or a leaf, so I'll have to remember that for future reference. I think the 3d model will do just fine though, thanks
