It is supposed to be a trebuchet or a tribock . I know this machine always had a net to put the projectile in and no wheels too - anyway how do you like it ?

Hey kelc, simply awesome model! Is it posable? I can hardly stand to see the textured version! Great work! Sascha

Looks great, but won't the soup fly all over the place? ; ) Just kidding, it's a cool model. You might want to make the recepticle a little less spoon-like though. Or is it just the angle?

A friend of mine in Florida has a small trebuchet in his backyard (small meaning it has maybe a 10 or 12-foot arm). He uses it to fling gallon jugs of gasoline with burning rags stuck in 'em. Watching those babies fly a hundred yards or so and then explode in a 20-foot fireball when they hit is a pleasure you just can't get any other way.

Hey these are great! I saw a Discovery channel program where a bunch of engineers got together and built two of these puppies to demo the different styles, explore how they worked, and see which model was better. What you have in your version WOULD have wheels to counteract the motion of the weights. The one without the wheels would have the counterweights in a basket that would swivel as the arm went overhead, keeping a relatively straight path. These are way cool. Keep at it!

Shut up and get back to work.

There was an episode of "Northern Exposure" where they used one to launch the casket at the conclusion of a funeral. It was beautiful. :)

Boy that was a strange show.

Okay, okay--sheesh, can't a guy even take a break? (trudging back to salt mines...)

Yes, when I saw the picture my first thought was that Northern Exposure episode! My favorite series of all time!

Ok it looked like a spoon ! but no longer . Hope it suits you better now . Already made some target practice - but only with simple stones . Thank you for the hint Hiram ! And you other boys made me search other Trebuchet blueprints on the Internet . Theres really a lot of interesting and weird stuff . I think I`m going to model at least to other types of trebuchets. Thank you all !

Magnificent! I kinda liked the spoon too, though. Whimsical!
