Subject: Best Modeler to create for Poser-Mac-

spratman ( ) posted Tue, 05 November 2002 at 11:31 AM · edited Tue, 26 November 2024 at 2:36 AM

That's basically my question. I'm looking for some opinions about which 3d program (Mac platform) works best for the specific task of building models, creating morphs and creating characters for use in Poser. I'm on a budget so like Maya is outa the question. Right now I'm looking at Amapi 6.1 and Carrera 2.1. But I'm open to any opinions. Thanx Jon

I'd like to know the answer to this question myself! You might be better off asking in the Macintosh forum though (under topic forums) I'm using a FREE subdivision modeller called Wings3d at the moment which should be ideal. But, it's still under development at the moment. You'll need to be running OSX to use it and to use the latest version you'll need OS10.2 I'm still using OS10.1.3 so I can't run the latest version and I haven't managed to import a Poser model yet! The compatability problems are known about though and if they haven't been fixed in the latest versions they should be by the final release. I think Cinema works well with Poser and I know Z-brush does but they are both pretty pricey whereas Wings costs nothing!

Hope this helps
Baz

Oh by the way, if you're creating models from scratch Wings exports in obj format, if you run the model through UVMapper it should import into Poser without problems.

I dont undestand mac users, they seem to be no-compatible with the rest of the world. BE COMPATIBLE< BE PC>

I use Cinema 4D, and it's great! You can then save your files as 3DS or OBJ's. If you want to see our work then click on the link. VH
