Please go to our home page and read a special notice on our free models. Thank you for your time. Sharen

Hi Sharen I have a little problem. Your policy of having to credit you even if I bought the models from you is one I usually associate with freebies. In the past, if I bought it no credit was necessary. This is important to me in my commerical work. Some clients do not like any other artist name credited unless both artists are on the contract. They want to make sure the is a clear copyright on what they are buying. Fortantly I haven't used any of yor work. The freebies requirement I understand, purchased Items are something else. "Terms of Use - You bought it, or downloaded it from our Free section, it is yours to USE commercially or personally in any animation or image gallery, we ask that you give SAM'S 3D credit for the construction of the models, including all texture maps, any morphs or derivative of our models, same goes for all models in the freebies section."

Hi Sharen Your policy on purchased items is proably not a problem for others, I just mentioned it because it will affect some people, and since it is not a general policy everyplace maybe you ought to highlight it in some way...just a suggestion. I only noticed it because of your "Special Notice" on freebies.

Okay, the notice has nothing to do with what you said Philywebrider, this is what the notice says: UPDATE PLEASE READ: Due to bandwidth theft we have been forced to alter our freebies area site. We have tried to adapt to the problems but without resolve. We are so sorry. But all is not lost, we will still have a free section but can only host 10 free models at a time, they will be changed weekly, when we put up the new model for the week, we will take down one model and place it in our archive section. Our Archive section can be purchased on a CD, always being updated with the new free model every week. We are right now up to 109 free models that are available for you. Now if you see one, and can't afford to pay for the archive or just don't want the whole archive, please email me with your request and I will email it to you. That way you will still get your free model. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause you but this is the best we can do until this can be resolved another way. They will all come off the freebies site in 2 weeks, so please go get them now while you can. Just to make it clear, I am not referring to Terms Of Use. Sharen

Hi Sharen I know the notice has nothing to do with the "Terms of use", I just said I went to read your "Special Notice" and I happened to read your "Term of Use". My problem has to do with the "Terms of Use", the (Re: the CREDIT LINE for your PURCHASE items). I am very sorry to hear about the bandwith theft, and I'm glad to see you are taking steps so it won't happen again. I hope everything works out okay. Congratulations on the "weather Station" spot(s). Well deserved recognition. Good luck!

Bandwidth theft? Is this site any good to you? http://www.anti-leech.com/

SAMS3D ( ) posted Sun, 17 November 2002 at 11:31 AM

Oh sorry Philywebrider, I misunderstood. And DigitalSteve, I don't know but I am on my way, thanks...Sharen Oh yes and Philywebrider, we really don't care if anyone doesn't mention us, just that the person doesn't take credit for the creation of the model in question.

Hi Sharen As I said: "This is important to me in my commerical work. Some clients do not like any other artist name credited unless both artists are on the contract. They want to make sure the is a clear copyright on what they are buying." The model would be part of a larger image such as Book Cover, etc, I don't know if you consider that "taking credit for the creation of the model" Please understand I have not purchaseed any of your models, I was just concerned about the "terms of use". I'll have to check anything I buy now, just in case.

Hi Sharen, If people are connecting through to your models without your consent there are a number of things that you can do. One of the best ways I've seen to avoid bandwith theft is what they use at animax.it. It generates unique passwords, but only after passing through THEIR website. You might want to inquire as to how they did it. Cheers, Drac

I've seen a lot of that for MAME Rom sites. Works awesome, and very easy to use. It also seems to be growing in popularity in the Arcade Emulation community. Also, thanks for clarifying on the freebie usage. I'd hate to have to delete some of the great models you've provided because I couldn't use them in commercial art pieces.

SAMS3D ( ) posted Mon, 18 November 2002 at 4:07 AM

You can use them as you will, all we ask is no one take credit for the original model, we don't ask to be credited in any pictures anyone creates. Sharen
