Subject: Poser export to other programs?

diamondx ( ) posted Mon, 18 November 2002 at 7:20 AM ยท edited Sat, 23 November 2024 at 9:57 AM

I don't own Poster 5 at this time, but I was thinking of buying it. My question is will it let me import model mesh into: lightwave 7.5, or 3D Studio Max 5 or Maya?

Regards
Kori

You can import exported obj mesh from poser into the apps. If you want to import poser scenes into Lightwave you might be better with poser 4 and Pro Pack who have the plug-in for lightwave. To my knowledge Poser 5 does not to this date have the export plug-in for LW.

Don't forget there is also a 3DSMax 4 import as well as one for Cinema 4D XL 7, both requiring P4 w/Pro Pack. :)

Poser 5 is offering the following export options right now: Viewpoint Experience Technology, RIB, BVH motion, painter script, Quickdraw 3DMF, 3DStudio, DXF, HAnim, Lightwave 5, Wavefront Object, Detailer Text, VRML. Hope this helps.

Lightwave and Max exporters are avaiblable from the Poser 4 Pro Pac.

I believe that Curious Labs is working on Poser 5 exports now....
So as of right now, no.....
Even when they do finally create teh exporters some stuff may not export though, i.e. hair

Reiss-studio.com makes a Poser to Maya exporter... "Body Studio"
Version 1.0 currently works with Poser 4 and Pro Pac but Josh says that there is a work around for Poser 5, this will get you by until he is finished with the new version.
