or am i seeing things i'm a bryce5 & vue4 user i was downloading some vue4 Materials i noticed they are compaible with both programs the file types are the same am i right about this????

No! They have both the extension *.mat. But they are different. Just try:-) Guitta

well i downloaded the Materials from the vue section after i went and checked out the files and they are Bryce5 Materials Presets and then i tried them in vue and it seems to work.

Ya you got to come back here and explain that one. Cause they don't work. But maybe you discovered a way. Are they single materials or all in a bunch? Maybe they work when there single. Are you sure you didn't download the wrong ones? Where did you get thses materials from?

I,ve the same as deadman67 every file in my materials folder is a bryce5 material preset. I have Bryce installed on my pc is it possible somehow that if bryce is installed, files will be allocated to it instead of Vue.

Oh you got that problem. Oh that's just a simple icon mix up. That's a microsoft problem in that it allows only one program to share a file extention. Why. Who knows. Fix it by finding the extention in folder options just find the extention .mat and delete it. You don't need a registered extention with a material file. if you double click on a material like ya right the program is going to start up and show you the material like a picture? I don't think so.

Yup. The problem is that Windows sees .mat, and has the file association ".mat = Bryce material". that's all. Hence, even vue *.mat are labeled "bryce material". ta, .rb
