Just wondering if there's any way to put a "real" face on a Poser4 figure. I'm a web developer put in the position of being a one-man shop so I don't have tons of experience in 3d image development. I'm just wondering if anybody has a good tutorial/system/software setup for mapping a real photograph (primarily the face) to a 3d texture for Poser 4 figures. I'm conceptualizing a site with a 3d "avatar" of my client using Mimic to animate a few messages. Is this feasible at all?

Not only is it feasible, it's the way nearly every Poser figure texture is created. The true challenge though is to shape the actual face of the model to match that of the person. You might be able to come close using a figure with lots of facial morphs (like Vickie 2), but you might want to consider using "Still to Real" by bradvs. Hope this helps.. -=JFStan=-

You can create your texture with uvmapper. www.uvmapper.com Overlay your photo onto the uvmap and save that as your texture. UVmapper is used to lay out your model. Photoshop or some other good paint program will let you layer your face over the map. Save the map, load that map in Poser and see how it looks. Keep your paint program open and tweak it until you have everything sized and positioned right. And yeah, the morphs are very important too.

If you want a tutorial, try Cake1's site. It was one of, if not THE first, to give instructions on producing face textures from photos.

Look below, on the right hand side--Her site is first under "Webring Top 15" and yeah, the folks here are my favorite Poser resource :)
