Attached Link: Xfrog to Vue 4 Tutorial

I have published my updated Xfrog to Vue 4 tutorial. It is a step-by-step tutorial that explains how to export a tree from Xfrog (version 3.21 or above) and import and texture it in Vue 4.

I hope you can find it useful.
Please let me know your comments and if you would like to see some more specific subject covered.

Will Vue import the animations possible from the full version of xfrog 3.5?

Merci beaucoup,Guitta.Unfortunately.There haven't only plugins for Rhino2,Carrara 2 and Truespace 6,the 3d softs i have. Now i know i must buy upgrade if i want to export in 3d format. But right now ,Xfogs seems complexe soft and i am not sure i want to go more in it.I have Tree druid for Carrara 2 and i don't use so much.Vue have lots (i hope they will develop more vegetations)and i have lot free stuffs and i have bought tree models .

Hi, sorry for the delay, I am very busy these days. I have talked about the issue with Stewart McSherry, product manager of Xfrog. It seems there's been some confusion about what the version 3.02 released with Digit magazine can and can not do. Basically version 3.02 that is in Digit can not export models directly. This would have been like giving away the whole software of course. It can be used to export via the plugins though, but this is a "lucky shortcut", that some users can take, not what the free version of Xfrog is meant for. The free version of Xfrog is basically meant as a way to use Xfrog and save your models forever. This is a very good thing as you can try the software for as long as you need to try it before deciding to buy it. And if you're lucky to have one of the applications supported by the plugins, it means also a fully free Xfrog version. Vue is not supported by the plugins, so Vue users are not as lucky as Maya or LIghtwave users. But, if you download the tryout version from the Greenworks site, you have 30 days of fully working 3.5 Xfrog, that you can use to export models in 3DS or OBJ. So one can install the Digit version first, try it and make as many models as he likes, then when he thinks so, he can install the 30 days demo and have 30 days to export the models he created. Not as good as having the plugins, but better than any other tryout formula available, I think. Anyway I paste here the words of McSherry, as he replied to another customer on the issue, on the Xfrog mailing list. "to do that (=to export to Vue or Bryce), please download 3.5, and export thru that. you can use both together. or consider the upgrade to 3.5, which is offered at a discount to 3.02 owners. just as a clarification, our promotion of 3.02, thru Digit magazine, as far as i can read in the review and tutorial, never made any claim that the software can export, and we never made this claim ourselves. 3.02 is intended to be used with free plugins, for Maya, Lightwave, 3ds max, Cinema4D, or with a trial or purchase of 3.5 if the user would like to get their models into anything not covered by these plugins." Hope this can help. Orio
