Greets, Okay here's the thing, I morph the hair, I make it fit, get it placed, give it a parent and save it to a directory. I look at the PNG file created and say "Gee, well isn't that ugly as all get out." So I think, I know I'll create a new PNG from a render and replace this one with it. So I create a render of the hair, adn open it in PSP, crop untill it's square and reduce to 91x91, it's 16 mil colors. Yep, just like the original PNG file, so I place it in the directory where the first was and reload Poser. What's the .... I say, this isn't right. So I try again. same results. I open a different ping (created from original save to folder) and replace the image with the one I want. Same results. I start over and re-generate the save (creating a new PNG) I open that one and verify that ALL graphics information is the same as my newly created PNG. it is. Make a new PNG, save, close poser, reload poser. Same Results. I'm running in circles here and can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. It is VERY obvious that PNG files can be created from rendered images, but I seem to be caught in a loop. Any help out there? I've included an image to help with the explanation of what's happening. on the right is the PNG file I've created, on the right is how Poser displays it.

what are the settings of your computer colour set to? I think that they have to be set to 16 bit for the poser png to work properly.

Try this: Render the image at a decent size (I usually do them at 400x400 just cause), resize them to 91x91 in your paint program and save. Now, convert the problem png thumbnails to rsr files using P3DO, delete the png files, and then open the library in Poser. Poser will convert the rsr files back to png with the correct images showing up. All you need to do now is delete the unneeded rsr files and you are ready to go. -darlisa

The simplest method is to render an image in Poser to a new window at 91x91 and save it as a .PNG directly out over the original .PNG thumbnail. No paint package manipulation required. In fact someone posted a while ago that you can do this at odd resolutions eg 150x91, as long as the width is 91 it still puts up a new thumbnail. It works in Poser but the thumbnail won`t show up if you use P3DO explorer. If you want to do paint package manipulation be aware of the PNG alpha channel. Mark

Thanks Routledge, That worked perfectly. Removed the background for some reason, but hey, that I don't care about :) Thanks Again

Cool. The background removal is the alpha channel I mentioned. All Poser PNG renders, and TIF, and some animation codecs include a transparency alpha channel. You should be able to remove them in a paint package if you want the background to show up.
