THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Subject: Thanksgiving and the November Challenge news. (Deadline News)

AgentSmith ( ) posted Tue, 26 November 2002 at 9:20 PM · edited Wed, 22 January 2025 at 2:03 PM

Turns out I'm going out to visit family tomorrow and won't be back until the night of Nov. 1st. So, please take until midnight of the 2nd to get your entries/final wip's turned in, since I will not be able to finalize the vote page until then. Thanks for understanding and Happy Thanksgiving to everyone! AgentSmith

Enjoy your vacation. Family comes first and thanks so much for all your hard work. We all appreciate it.

Hey AS Enjoy your vacations! Just a note, The challenge was declared somewhere around the 10th! Could we get time till the 5-6th at least? Am in the midst of a bit complex modelling and its taking time! :-( Thanx Avi

AgentSmith ( ) posted Wed, 27 November 2002 at 1:29 AM

I'm fine with the 5th-6th, what does everyone else say/think? This Challenge was late to start. I was actually going to suggest Dec.'s be a purposefully short challenge (2-3 weeks) anyway, `cause of X-Mas and what could be tight schedules on everyone's part. If the November winner doesn't like the fact they are picking a theme for a short Challenge, we could just make Dec. a basic "X-mas" theme (or whatever!) and then have the November winner choose the January theme. Make sense at all? Thoughts? AS

As a first time entrant in the challenge I have one question. Do I need to repost my entry, as the 2nd one I put up is how the image has stayed, so is the final version?

catlin_mc ( ) posted Wed, 27 November 2002 at 1:43 AM

That sounds like a good move AS. Have no problems with a quick christmas scene then getting back to serious business in January. Catlin

chohole, not sure I understand?

What no Chanuka theme? Have a Great Thanksgiving All roch222

chohole ( ) posted Wed, 27 November 2002 at 3:16 AM

AgentSmith you said final wip's. Does that mean that the one I put up will be accepted (it said challenge entry is this any better) or do I need to resubmit it as a final version. Sorry to be so dim, but never entered a challenge before.

ICMgraphics ( ) posted Wed, 27 November 2002 at 3:32 AM

A Holiday theme for Dec along with Novs winner choosing a theme for January sounds great. Yet that would leave Decs' winner out in the cold.:) Nov & Dec could make it a joint effort? Happy Thanksgiving to Everyone. Thank you once again AS for all your efforts. GET STUFFED! ICM

humorix ( ) posted Wed, 27 November 2002 at 4:07 AM

Hmmmm since we are celebrating the spirit of X-mas, why not just have X-mas themed entry with us wishing each other Season's greetings for Dec, and no voting? Just a simple celebration of the community! What say folks? I quite like the idea AS! Might even start working on the season's image right away!:-)

madmax_br5 ( ) posted Wed, 27 November 2002 at 4:13 AM

not to be a politically correct nag, but I think you meant the winter holiday spirit rather than the spirit of X-mas. Don;t ind me..lol...it's late and i;m tired.

humorix ( ) posted Wed, 27 November 2002 at 5:00 AM

Hmmm I stand politically corrected! ;-)

Aldaron ( ) posted Wed, 27 November 2002 at 7:19 AM

Yeah I think just have a kinda of winter holiday card posting with no voting would be best then take up the regular challenge in January.

Rayraz ( ) posted Wed, 27 November 2002 at 10:32 AM

X-mas theme for the december challenge sounds cool. But I think we could make it a little less clichby adding something to it. Here's my idea: X-mas groove. In other words, try to make a groovy X-mas image.

What do you think about that? X-mas or X-mas groove or maybe something else?

January sounds good, How about the Fourth for this months contest? That would give Humorix et al time to finish and give us another day for the Holiday Chalenge. - TJ

lsstrout ( ) posted Wed, 27 November 2002 at 12:47 PM

I like the idea of letting the November winner choose January's challenge and making December just for fun. As for whether to call it a Christmas, X-mas or holiday challenge, I think we are all clever enough to know that not everyone is into Christmas, so can we just throw it open as a general celebration picture and take every thing from religious holidays to secular New Year's? Lin Not trying to be politically correct, I just like a good party. :)

AgentSmith ( ) posted Wed, 27 November 2002 at 1:01 PM

chohole, no, the last one you posted will be the one I put in the Challenge, so you're fine! AgentSmith

Sounds cool all around people! A Non-voting-groovy Dec Challenge, lol. Snowboarders celebrating X-Mas? Killer robots made out of snow and ice? Santa and his laser guided, titanium, turbo sleigh? (j/k) Any other theme requirements other than December/X-mas?

If I could raise a small voice here... I like the idea of trying to express the spirit of the season - whether it be Christmas, Yule, whatever you celebrate. But then I'm a sentimentalist, I suppose...

Non-voting X-mas (whatever) greetings sounds great to me!

When I was younger I almost married a Jewish girl and latter dated a Buddistlady for a while, so I still try to remember that not everyone is Christian. Holiday thus seems more appropriate than Chrismas but otherwise no objections here.

AgentSmith ( ) posted Wed, 27 November 2002 at 7:32 PM

But of course. Especially with using Bryce, I'm more apt to just show a snow scene, etc. Of course we should all do whatever December means to any of us personally, whatever the religion or whatever the inspiration. (religious or not!) Actually, I don't actually get snow in Los Angeles. (It was 72 degrees here today) AS

Hey Biker, whats stopping you from starting your image right now? :-P The topic is decided isn't it? :-)

bikermouse ( ) posted Thu, 28 November 2002 at 2:27 AM

Agent Smith, When I lived in San Francisco we got snow once, Boulder Creek, (outside of Santa Cruz), we got a foot in one setting, the first year I was in Phoenix we got a little snow, even had some here in Fresno once. This year, According to the TV news, Sierra Summit out of Shaver Lake is using a snow machine to create snow for the ski runs. A little warmer than normsl here not sure exactly but I don't think we were much over 60 today. Hey humorix, Have to wait for B5, Thanksgiving, some girl I know wants me to fix her tie rods on her Peckup - truuk, another friend wants to get her digital Kodak camera running . . . I'm lazy, my back hurts, I gotta trim my Roses for winter, gotta read the Poser fotum, wanna try that thing Agent Smith did to map a picture onto a sphere, gotta orginize my files, since the subject got brought up I want to reread Mary Shelly's Frankenstein, gotta clean up the house, do those things which pay the bills, set up a Xmas Tree for my mother, help a friend with the outdoor lights, I need to shop for presents, do laundry and go food shopping. not so much . . . but AgentSmith hasn't said go yet. - TJ
