Subject: The best paid Poser site?

Lucy_Fur ( ) posted Fri, 29 November 2002 at 10:56 PM · edited Thu, 13 February 2025 at 6:56 AM

I'm dabbling with the thought of joining a paid Poser site and I'm wondering which of them may be the best choice. Any thoughts?

IMHO, PoserStyle gives the best value for the money. The stuff is top-notch and a 6 months subscription costs only 30 dollars :o).

It's a tough decision. You can't go wrong with Poserstyle, Poserworld, or Traveler's Prop Club. I guess it depends on what you're looking for. Poserstyle has the widest range of available items, from lights to poses to clothes - poses and clothes tend towards Daz figures. Poserworld is mostly clothes - with Posette and Dork still somewhat suppoerted - and models, especially buildings. (Oh, I really love their buildings!) Trav's Prop Club is mostly props (hence the name) but has a wide variety and tends to have theme months. Poserstyle and Poserworld are approximately the same price while Trav's Props Club is much less expensive. You can preview the different sites to decide which one fits your needs best. All three are high quality, so you won't go wrong by choosing one (or more) of them.

Poserstyle has more support for Mike than PWFW (clothing, textures, morphs), and many pose sets and pose construciton sets for all mil figures. Very little support for p4 characters. Some scenes and props. PWFW has a large collection of clothes for all figures - including access to the old PoserWorld content CD's. Many great scenes, props. Has textures and clothing for the less well known Nude Young Woman from DAZ (on sale in the loft BTW). Has a strong line of victorian/costume clothing, greek clothing, women's japanese clothing. Multiple textures for every clothing item, plus many texture sets for other clothing items as well. I have to disagree with Crescent re PWFW support for the poser4 figures - they're actually stronger in that areas than the milclothing, but they've been concentrating on mil stuff the last year or so. You just need dig around a litle on the site. I've never been subscribed to Traveler's props club, so can't say anything about it. Another contender, that I do not have a subscription to, is the old PropsGuild. Fairly sure they're takeing subscriptions now. I beleive that membership gives you access to their large library of props, plus whatever new stuff they've come up with in the last year. Strong in modern and sci-fi props. Less so in plants and scenes/buildings. Hope that helps! Lyrra

Poserworld hands down. They've got the largest amount of clothing and scenes, and the quality is top notch. $60 for a year, $50 on sale, and so much you'll take days and days to download it all. Releases every 2 to 3 weeks with 6 or 7 different items each release. Great textures. Loads of Mike, Vicky, Stephanie, Posette, and Dork clothing. Some of which you can't find anywhere else. Both Historical and modlern clothing. Even Vicky hair. And the gang there takes requests and actually comes through. If you can get only one, get Poserworld. Daz Platinum Club and PoserStyle are next, but leaning toward Poserstyle. The $1.99 values at Daz make it well worthwhile. Poserstyle has one release a week, they're all good. Light sets, cloths, textures for Mike, Steph, and Vicky. The Multisuits alone are worth the price. Propsguild has a lot of props, but it goes months without an update sometimes. A lot aren't in native Poser format so you have to import them. Careful looking and you can find most everything they have somewhere else, so why pay? I've got a subscription, and am pretty dissappointed with the frequency of the updates and the bad design of the site.

Thanks for the info on Propsguild, I've got a PWFW subscription, and the Platinum Club, and was seriously considering Propsguild, guess I'll read a bit more and see what the final verdict is :)

I don't know about the other two- but poserworld does have one big problem- constant general threats on every page about downloading too much- You never know when his paranoia will turn on you- makes you feel guilty everytime you download something. I had a subscription there but I let it end because of it. Seams to me that a subscription is like a subscription to a magazine- you should be able to read all the articals- not just the ones they want you to read- They claim bandwidth problems- not my problem. raise there prices or remove stuff. They call subscribers bandwidth hogs- there is no such thing-you download it once- you don't do it again- every person there gets everything anyways- so it's bull. just a cost reduction stratagy. If you decide to get PW then only get it for a few months- paradoia self destroyia let the flaming begin: say Boo around here and someone will say your wrong :(

PW's problem is with download accelerators, which get stuff in advance and so waste bandwidth when it isn't needed. Just look at the number of people who have given up because of bandwidth costs. Comparing number of releases between PS and PW is a little misleading as PS tend to produce a single costume pack which would be listed as several individual items at PW - they're probably pretty close by quantity - get both (plus Props Club) if you can.

PWFW does not limit downloads at all, only with accelerators or multiple D/L apps, like Gozilla. It's site-sucking vampires that caused PWFW to go to subscription in the first place. As a subscriber, and a very satisfied one, I am very happy to comply with their wishes. By the way, Get-Right is accepted by PWFW.

I already belong to the Platinum Club - all gods bless them for thinking that up - tho I've spent a goodly amount of dineros there - I shudder to imagine what it would be if I had bought it w/o the PC in place. G I've never heard of Traveler's Props Club - does someone have a link??

Arrrrrrrgh all of you stop it! It's bad enough I've been sucked into the life destroying void that is the Platinum club... If I keep hearing about these other places it will be the end of me!!! :)

Poserstyle absolutely. The quality fo the work at Poserstyle is top notch and that is important to me. I don;t really care how often things get released if the quality isn't high enough for me to use them. I will mention that this isn't a slam against other places, my needs are extremely demanding and well outside of normal hobbiest stuff. I also stick with a very small number of vendors for the same reason. Additionally the Poserstyle releases are often extremely useful for saving me time building other things .. the multisuits are brilliant and the expression kits and character kits rock.
