Subject: WHAT'S THIS COMMAND [Delete Member's Gallery] ??? ITS DANGEROUS ?

andygraph ( ) posted Mon, 02 December 2002 at 2:44 PM · edited Sun, 24 November 2024 at 10:32 PM

Please its possible remove this command ? because it is dangerous and any guy can delete yourself without want it!!

jewell ( ) posted Mon, 02 December 2002 at 2:47 PM

andy, it has a safety feature, asking if you are sure. and anyone who doesn't pay attention when they are deleting ANYTHING, will get into trouble. Pls just be careful yourself.

Stormrage ( ) posted Mon, 02 December 2002 at 2:49 PM

That command should be just on your gallery for you to do unless you are a moderator I think .. When looking at your gallery I can't see that command.

this command is in your gallery too .. stormrage is this:

dialyn ( ) posted Mon, 02 December 2002 at 3:10 PM

You only see that option on your own gallery. You can't delete my gallery (even if you are so inclined). Look at someone's gallery other than your own and you'll see that. It's only dangerous if you are viewing your own gallery and you click on the button by accident and delete your entire gallery instead of a single graphic (if that was your intent). Seems unlikely you would do that since you're aware of what it would do.

andygraph ( ) posted Mon, 02 December 2002 at 3:18 PM

i know this !!! i can't delete your gallery !!! BUT i talking about delete accident the own gallery ! do you understand now ?

dialyn ( ) posted Mon, 02 December 2002 at 3:20 PM

I understand, but I'm not sure why you think that's so dangerous. People want to have the option to delete the whole gallery instead of doing it graphic by graphic if they are so inclined. What would your alternative be?

andygraph ( ) posted Mon, 02 December 2002 at 3:27 PM

it's not a safety way: is better change the botton command position in one only side and give another question : first command: delete all gallery and then it will open another window with this question: you are sure, you want delete all now ? then if you want delete all.. its not complicate but it's more safety for any accident click.

dialyn ( ) posted Mon, 02 December 2002 at 3:31 PM

Doesn't it say something like "are you sure you want to delete now?" It does, I think, when you delete a single graphic. I'm surprised the gallery delete doesn't ask the same question. That certainly would be a wise safety measure.

andygraph ( ) posted Mon, 02 December 2002 at 3:37 PM

and i dont know if i will delete only one item or all my gallery with this "command", but i dont have the courage to try it ;-) you have the courage to try ?

dialyn ( ) posted Mon, 02 December 2002 at 3:46 PM

Yup, I have that courage. Tried it. Got a message asking me if I was sure I wanted to delete. I cancelled. My gallery is still there. So there is a safety feature. :)

Here's the message I got.

andygraph ( ) posted Mon, 02 December 2002 at 3:49 PM

fiuhhhhh many thx dialyn ;-)

dialyn ( ) posted Mon, 02 December 2002 at 3:51 PM

No problemo. :) With a gallery like mine, there's not much lost if I made it disappear. ;)

andygraph ( ) posted Mon, 02 December 2002 at 3:55 PM

hehehe ;)

Spike ( ) posted Mon, 02 December 2002 at 4:12 PM

Do you people not want this option? It make for quick work when a member gets pissed off and wants to leave

You can't call it work if you love it... Zen Tambour

dialyn ( ) posted Mon, 02 December 2002 at 4:15 PM

I'm fine with it. When I leave, I sure don't want to pick off my graphics one by one. I kinda of like the idea of one big wipe out. :)

Spike ( ) posted Mon, 02 December 2002 at 4:16 PM

:) Makes for a nice big exit huh?

dialyn ( ) posted Mon, 02 December 2002 at 4:20 PM

;D I don't like long good byes, but I sure do like a dramatic exit. Guess I'm a drama queen at heart.

I don't want this option. Yes, maybe it's a pain if you want to leave, but couldn't the moderators have this option and then when someone wants to go, ask a moderator to delete the entire gallery using such a button. What I'm worried about is not only the danger of hitting it by accident when not paying attention, but if someone comes in with the same form/session ID (which happens when people send links sometimes and they don't realize they shouldn't), that one could clear your gallery if they were malicious enough. Please remove it or have a way to opt out of this "program" please. I don't plan to leave, and I don't want anyone (including myself) making me leave... :) ShadowWind

dialyn ( ) posted Mon, 02 December 2002 at 5:21 PM

Has this ever been a problem? Has anyone ever accidently deleted their own gallery? Has anyone ever accidently managed to delete someone else's gallery? Seems much ado about nada to me. I don't think the option should be eliminated. I guess if it can be another option in/out kind of thing, that would bring the most solace to people. I like the idea of dynamiting my gallery one of these days. Please add the optional fireworks for me when I go.

ShadowWind ( ) posted Mon, 02 December 2002 at 5:33 PM

I think if they must keep it, that it should have a single link in the member profile edit page, rather than in the gallery...People have deleted pictures by accident in the past, so there is an issue there... I don't know if anyone has ever deleted their gallery by accident or as a malicious act, because there is never been an option to do so in one foul swoop... Sorry Dialyn, but even the most careful sometimes don't pay attention and delete something by accident. Kids run in, cat jumps on keyboard, etc...At least if it was in Member Profile options, it would be sight unseen unless one needed it... ShadowWind

dialyn ( ) posted Mon, 02 December 2002 at 5:44 PM

Of all the one million things in this life that are important to me and that I am going to worry about, this is at the bottom of my list. It would take more than a cat jumping on a keyboard to kick the gallery out...but if it worries you that much, then it should be changed. I respect the fact that this obviously bothers you and more protections need to be put in place in case of accidental evacuations of your graphics. Maybe I can be more cavalierish because there's nothing on the gallery I can't easily replace if I was inclined to (which I probably wouldn't be). I don't use the gallery as an archive or a showcase. Easy come, easy go...I'm not sweating it as an issue one way or the other. But I sure wouldn't mind some fancy pyrotechnics when the time comes. Just for the heck of it. and that's the end of me and this thread.

CryptoPooka ( ) posted Mon, 02 December 2002 at 10:11 PM

"It would take more than a cat jumping on a keyboard to kick the gallery out..." (grin) You don't own cats, do you? When I was back on dialup, in the dark ages, my cats actually signed me on a few times. And started the printer. And opened a few dozen windows. And ....

kawecki ( ) posted Mon, 02 December 2002 at 11:06 PM

Where's the recycled bin ? Are you sure that you want to remove all your Poser folder ? Never mind, I don't use recycled bin, deleted is gone for ever.

Stupidity also evolves!

SeanE ( ) posted Tue, 03 December 2002 at 12:22 AM

This option had me worried as well when I first saw it. The idea is fine but a single link on your member profile page should be enough and not under every single image. I too can see people hitting it by accident

jeweldragon ( ) posted Tue, 03 December 2002 at 12:53 AM

i for one hope this gets changed to a single link on your profile or home page as i dont have alot of my old works they werent backed up because i couldnt back them up now i have a burner so i can and if i accidently were to hit that link, or what if my kid does ? clowning around when he bugs me while im on the puter he does that alot he will take and grab my mouse and click it to be annoying lol, i just dont want to lose my work, please rethink this through and put it somewhere else not under every pic ((just voiceing my opinion ))

Ironbear ( ) posted Tue, 03 December 2002 at 1:23 AM

"Do you people not want this option?" I want it! Leave it! ;] Makes getting rid of the gallery simple. ;] Ummm... but the rest of ya'll might wanna be careful giving out urls with your SessID #'s in it if you're paranoid....

Since I occasionally delete my gallery once I feel it's had it's day in the sun, the ability to do it all at once is a godsend for me. I vote keep it. Kate (who never knows when she'll find herself leaving in a huff or something)

-Klaus ( ) posted Tue, 03 December 2002 at 3:30 AM

Yes, some peopleseem to "allow" themselves to delete "their members's galleries, I "allow" myself to delete what I mistook too. What's wrong with that ? I kann nicht dass verdand sehr gut... ?? Warum nicht. Was ist schlecht vom dass zu machen ? Was Machen Sie sich ?

hmatienzo ( ) posted Wed, 04 December 2002 at 11:27 PM

-Klaus, you are sure you are German? You speak it as bad as you do English... Try a different approach, huh?
