hawkfyr, PlantStudio doesn't create trees, only small plants and flowers. Try this one www.TreeMaker.nl Guitta

Guitta But it's not really free(it costs 10 bux) This is what the demo says: "The demo will have all features but is not able to save the tree to a 3D file Format. After download: unzip it and run setup." Still... for ten buck it's probably worth it. Thanks Tom

hawkfyr, yes, I know it is not completely free. But if you read the thread (free software blahblah) in our cool and groovy stuff, there is said that we can also put links to software what is about 10 $. Some of these softwares really worth their price, especially the ones by Banthum. Great stuff! :-) So don't hesitate, if you know any... Guitta

I got it for free. A while ago. It says on their webpage that it's now free. You got to their order page to get the serial number, etc. Kevin

Arboretum comes with Forester. While not free, it is inexpensive and pretty nice. It does output .obj formated trees, however, I have not tested the .obj files with Vue. jon

Xfrog was free in Digit magazine in the November issue...you may be able to order a back issue. Hmmmmm, thinking about it though, you will need Lightwave, Cinema etc to be able to export the trees into usable format :o( Cheers

Why would you need free software to create trees? You got Vue already don't you? What kind of trees are you trying to make? Cause if you're just trying to get more variety than the ones in Vue your in luck cause every single tree and bush in Vue can be edited endlessly I might add. The only kind of tree that's lacking in Vue is the christmas kind. Conifers in Vue is so so and hard to edit to make look good with different branches, not impossible though.

Hawkfyr ( ) posted Sat, 07 December 2002 at 9:00 AM

raffyraffy may very well be wanting to export trees for use in another app. I don't think Vue trees are exportable in any format other than Vue's native format IIRC That might be the reason. 8 ) Tom
