Subject: Soft shadows and studio-type rendering

OK, dolt that I am, I can never seem to get my renders to look like some I've seen. I'm trying to go for that clean studio-type look. Kinda like Kix's X-wing WIP. The first image looked like it had been shot in a studio with the white background and all. Anyone have a sure-fire set of settings so that I can dupe this for some of my models? Ken dork.gif

Hmmmmmm, Not sure how to respond to this one. 1.) There is an environment on the resource CD called showroom which is just for what you're describing. If you go and look at my spider picture in the gallery, you'll see what it's like. It has a light to fake radiosity, a light for hilight and a regular light plus a simple reflective floor. 2.) The environment my X-Wing is in is a simple flat plane with one spotlight off center, edge fall off set to 100%, the brightness turned up a tad and the soft shadows are on. I don't remember it having a white background though. I did put a mirror in it for a little while but I've abandoned that. The new CD is going to be out in February so I'd wait if you were planning on getting it. -Kixsupercool.gif

My bad, just looked at the render again. But still, it's is what I'm looking for and yes that does answer the question. Just going to have to play with it and see what happens. Thanks Kix Kendork.gif
