I wanted to follow siome tutorial but the objects that are supposed to be installed with the program are not in mine (may be 'cause it is a Demo ?). I tryed to download some but got only Vob files made in windows using Vue 3.1...and I can't open any because I use Vue 4 for Macintosh OS10.2.2 ! Can someone suggest me where to find objects I can use (Vascels , Cars , Airplanes ...) ? May be if i try again to download the demo ...can be that mine is corrupted ? Thank you very much !

The Demo will not allow you to import objects from outside. Guitta guittalogo.GIF

Yes , but where are thoose wich are supposed to belong to the program ... How to try otherways ?

The demo comes only with a dead tree as far as I know. You Just play around with the demo for landscapes or interiors and create your own objects from primitives. If you like it then, buy Vue and you will import fine:-)

When you buy the Vue program, you receive 2 CD's with lot of things (and lot of models). Here is a copy-paste of what is said on www.e-onsoftware.com : "250 high quality fully textured 3D models (animals, vehicles, furniture, buildings...), over 300 materials (rocks, liquids, glass, metals...), and over 100 magnificient atmospheres, including sunny days, bad weather, susnets, night time, unusual effects, animated atmospheres, plus, of course, a set of gorgeous volumetric atmospheres... Use the impressive library of over 100 cloud shapes to rapidly customize skies to your wildest requirements. Learn from the best by studying over 50 magnificient scenes created by some of the best Vue artists around." ;=) Yves

I'm also playing with the demo on a mac osx 10.2.2. It is possible to import some vob-files, but I read somewhere that Vue 4 on mac won't import files from Windows Vue 3.1, and this obviously goes for the demo as well. If you have Poser you can import pz3-files, but you have to put the textures directly into the folder Runtime:Textures in the Poser folder (no subdirectories) for Vue to find them.

Thanks to everybody ...the point is :if I buy the program I will not be able to import anything downloaded from web anyway ...because all what I found is made using Vue 3,1 in Windows....Where to find files usable for Mac ? A friend of mine wrote me he has the full version , but he has the same problem . Can't import anything he downloaded. We both don't use Poser untill version 5 for mac will be released , 'cause we don't have System 9 installed anymore ! Thank you

Not many things out there for mac. But Vue can import 3ds and OBJ. I think this works for Mac too (hello Walther, can you hear me and help this user?).

MarianneR ( ) posted Thu, 12 December 2002 at 12:31 PM

I'm using Poser in Classic under Jaguar. It works just fine. And there are things made in Vue 4 out there, I downloaded and tried one model, and it did load, but there were no textures. I don't know if there were none in the file or if it was Vue not finding them. I still know very little about Vue.

It would be nice to know from WHERE did you downloaded something working in Vue 4 for Mac ....I didn't find anything , not even loadable with my friend's full version of Vue 4 (always for Mac). No Atmospheres , No Objects , No Functions , No Color Schemes ...nothing at all. Any link ? I am afrayd I'll have to go back to Bryce and give it up trying to use Vue ! Thanks anyway to everybody for help !

If Mac users would creat things for Vue 4, you could find some, but this did not happen until now. You must know that Vue 4 is the first Mac version. Before, it did not exist. So, it will be very difficut for the momenet to find some:-( Guitta

Pc stuff for version 4 seems to work also. I just downloaded the book in freestuff here, it says pc only but it works. It renders with the textures.

colorville ( ) posted Thu, 12 December 2002 at 5:26 PM

Yes , the point is to find stuff that can be loaded in Mac verion , not problem to find many for PC.... Ciao

colorville ( ) posted Thu, 12 December 2002 at 5:33 PM

Ok , I downloaded a file supposed to be for PC and MAC from freestuff here ...but it doesn't work either....Now I start wondering if I am doing something wrong! Can you tell me the correct way to load it ? I make a new file , choose an atmospher and clic on Load Object Icon...than I browse to the file to choose it . Is it correct ? Thanks

MightyPete ( ) posted Thu, 12 December 2002 at 6:20 PM

Import object. Try importing. You opened the file though right like it's not still wrapped up in a zip file by any chance? You can only load a file if it's a vob file. Anything else you have to import. Try the book....

colorville says he has the demo. He also says that "his friend" has a full version of Vue for Mac. Mac users who answers here should remember that Vue 4 needs the updates, as well for Mac as for PC. So, colorville's friend must update his Vue copy to version 4.11 (at e-on's site) and colorville needs to buy Vue.

colorville ( ) posted Fri, 13 December 2002 at 3:09 PM

My Friend version has been already updated to Vue 4.1.1 ! I am not going to buy it for sure ...until no one file can be imported even in the full version (I am not that crazy!). And ...yes , the file was unzipped , it was a "vob" file , and was exactly the flowers just next to the Book ...( for PC and Mac !) Probably this program is still not that good for our platform ! Thanks to everybody , anyway !

MightyPete ( ) posted Fri, 13 December 2002 at 3:29 PM

Oh there seems to be a bug in the 4.11 patch for Mac that is preventing it to import *.vob files. E-On is aware of the problem and is working on a solution. Does it all make more sence now?

That's strange. On my computer the poinsettia imported. I just put the .vob-file together with the jpg's in the same folder.

colorville ( ) posted Fri, 13 December 2002 at 7:37 PM

OK People ! Now it works ! ! I had to reinstall it , so I suppose that something went wrong with the first installation ! Now , I will suggest to my friend (who has the same problem) to do the same . May be it will works for him too ! Anyway , thanks to everybody , and expecially to MarianneR : when I saw that he (she ?) got it working on a Mac , I decided to keep trying ... See you all !
