What did you do climb into the lense? Hey Cal where did you snap these?

Caledonia ( ) posted Thu, 12 December 2002 at 7:37 AM

These were taken at the Marine Museum in St. Michael's Maryland. No, I stayed outside the lens!

One and two are both awesome Cal... Great dynamics and a real sense of being there. #3 is interesting, bit lacks the power of the first two.

The first one is a killer, Cal. I'm a sucker for repeating patterns and such. The second one, well-- I like it better if the frames were cropped off. It works as a really kick ass abstract for me. cooldude.gif (*

I like #2 best for the soft dark reds and browns

Eggiwegs! I would like... to smash them!

My vote is for #1 but all are neat

ChuckEvans ( ) posted Thu, 12 December 2002 at 4:50 PM

Ahhh, #1 is my handsdown fav. I do wish there was a way to get rid of that naked upper-left corner, though, without losing the other stuff. But that color on the bottom is great...almost prismatic. #2 looks, well, second best to me. Not sure I like the over-exposure on the right...or the frames in there. I'd have to tinker with it to see how it looked this way and that. #3, well, doesn't do much for me. I like the close-ups that are a bit more abstract. Of course, that's just my opinion. These are very nice shots and go to show what having the "eye" is all about!

These are way cool Cal! I like them all, but the first is my fav too...If you want to see the kind of view from *inside* the lens of a (probably older-style) lighthouse, check out my photo "Living Inside a Lens" that I took 3 years or so ago with my Ricoh SLR...link above (dial-up users please excuse loading time for image display engine) I love these kind of experiments with light and refractive materials. :-)>

Thanks for the comments. I agree that the third is not that good, I just included it to show the whole light. The first one is my favorite too.

Great subject Cal I love the colours and shapes in the glass, did you take some close ups? There looks like some nice abstracts within the light. :0)

Mysnapz, I did not take any really close up. The first two are as close as I got. Those were not cropped at all. I don't usually look at things in an abstract way so I completely missed the possibilities which interested you.
