Subject: Small Poser Related Chuckle of the Day

Hello everyone, Sorry if you feel this remark is misplaced but it just happened to me and I thought it was kind of funny. Shows you that this stuff can REALLY invade your brain! I just received an e-mail with the subject line: Get Involved In Michael and Stephanie's Wedding. My first thought was..."what's DAZ up to now?" followed by a little laugh and the thought "I thought Michael was with Vicky! That cheating little so and so!" Then I clicked open the message to find that it was an announcement from weddingchannel.com that my RL friend Michael had just set up his recently announced wedding to his fiancee Stephanie on their service! I had to laugh at the power of the DAZ marketing machine and how it infiltrated my consciousness. Of course I knew if ANYONE else in my life was going to get a laugh out of this it would be the people here - so I'm posting. I hope it's not too much of an OT disruption to your days. Frank

Yeah, I know what you mean, not just Daz, but Poser in general. Recently, my husband told me that the toaster was broken............well, DUH........I tell him, Don't worry about it, I will pick one up over at Renderosity. Boy did I feel stupid about that one! LOL! Genny

Back in the punk rock days, a "poser" was considered a very uncool thing to be. Sort of like "weekend hippie," if you know what I mean. The double-connotation is sort of funny.

Irish ( ) posted Thu, 12 December 2002 at 1:35 PM

Had a good chuckle over that one!! I've found myself sitting down in our local mall, watching people pass by, and thinking how this or that texture would look in Poser and also find myself looking at faces as if they were out of Poser....addicted me!! No way! :)

xoconostle....I've run into the double-meaning problem on Google. I was looking for a Poser model of some high-end sports car. (I forget which one.) So I do a search on "Poser" and "sports-car-name". A bunch of the hits were rants about posers who are trying to look cool by pretending (on the 'net) that they own one of these cars. I never did find the model :-( Frank...I would have thought the same thing. And since somebody sells wedding outfits for Posette, with the tag line "Posette's getting married!", that would have already planted the seed in my subconscious. lynn

My work mates are quite used to me sitting studying my hand or examining their hair. They just consider me a complete nutcase and ignoreit now!

MadYuri ( ) posted Thu, 12 December 2002 at 2:26 PM

And then there is this woman in the streetcar... I just wonder where she got her hair prop...

Spit ( ) posted Thu, 12 December 2002 at 2:33 PM

LOL! Yes, it really invades your brain in an odd way. When I look at my cat I see the mouse's face. I look again and she's herself.

maclean ( ) posted Thu, 12 December 2002 at 2:36 PM

My problem is that I like my neighbor's daughter. She's very
attractive, but has a slightly large nose. Now I reckon I could
whip up a morph for that in Poser no problem..... mac >removes

Hehehe. That's funny. I'd likely do that too.

You have no idea how many times I have wanted to texture my bedroom or familyroom. Diane

EldonG ( ) posted Thu, 12 December 2002 at 3:43 PM

Hmmm...maybe I could morph away a good 50 lbs? Wait...after the holidays...make it 60!

Wadus ( ) posted Thu, 12 December 2002 at 4:36 PM

How about when some post a screen shot and you try to rotate the view... I do that ALL the time :)

ChuckEvans ( ) posted Thu, 12 December 2002 at 4:57 PM

I can relate! I sometimes take photos of my wife. As I'm telling her to move her arm here are there, I'm imagining which dials I will need to adjust...LOL.

garblesnix ( ) posted Thu, 12 December 2002 at 6:19 PM

We can have a good chuckle at our own expense, but I think we also need to applaud ourselves because each of us has a new-found appreciation for people, places, and objects. Their colors, textures, how they use the light. This is a definite benefit for the time we all become GODS AND CREATE THE PERFECT BEINGS IN OUR OWN IMAGE. IMAGES WITH OUT NEED FOR MOR'S OR MATS' OR SWORDS OR PANTIES. AND WE'LL MAKE THEM TALK. YEAH, THEY'LL SAY THE VERY THINGS WE WANT THEM TO SAY AND WHEN THEY DISOBEY, AND THEY WILL, THOSE NAUGHTY LITTLE,.... ...guess you folks are right. But I would NEVER believe Michael could be anything more than a "good friend" to Stephanie.... ...damn, there I go again.

Zenman53186 ( ) posted Thu, 12 December 2002 at 8:19 PM

Yeah, I would have trouble thinking about Micheal and Stephanie getting together...I mean, really, they share the same mesh! They're like brother and sister, right? Isn't them getting together like, well, incestual or something? I have similar experiences to what's been described. I look at hair and faces MUCH closer than I used to. I compare eye shape to nose size to mouth width, and look at what texture flaws need to be fixed. Just think, in 20 years or so, geneticists will be doing for real what we do virtually...

Recently I had a conversation with a coworker who referred to another coworker as a Dork. I almost said, "He doesn't look like the Dork."

Migal ( ) posted Fri, 13 December 2002 at 4:07 AM

My wife had no idea I was into Poser. She'd never heard of it. My hobby was finally discovered because I started blurting out hair comments. At the restaurant, "that poor woman should not be wearing a layered flip. Her hair is too thin. She'd look much better with a Gypsy." In the bedroom, "you know honey, I don't know if I've ever told you this, but I just love it when you wear an up-do."

She finally said, "what in the world is all this nonsense you are talking about hair?" As many guys fear, I figured that after I showed her Poser she'd tell me, "you just like that because you get to take virtual photographs of naked babes." Surprisingly, she didn't react that way at all. Instead, two days later she was posing for my first texture photos. :-)

lululee ( ) posted Fri, 13 December 2002 at 8:30 AM

Hey, Migal, you got a Great relationship. Hats off to you and your wife.

shogakusha ( ) posted Fri, 13 December 2002 at 8:35 AM

I have to admit, I now look at people and think what a wonderful texture their skin would make, or how unique their eye shape is, or try to decide is that woman wearing Reika hair or Suzyn Hair? Best of all, last night I was wandering to bed late (heaven forbid!) and my hand brushed a painting hung on the wall, misaligning it. My initial thought was "Oh, better UNDO that!"

bloodsong ( ) posted Fri, 13 December 2002 at 8:50 AM

hmmmm.... are you sure you have REAL friends named michael and stephanie, and this isn't some bizarre mental aberration you have, THINKING michael and stephanie are real people? ;) that is a real freaky coincidence.

FrankJann ( ) posted Fri, 13 December 2002 at 9:04 AM

LOL bloodsong! Uhhhhh.... I'm PRETTY sure! After all, my RL friend Posette told me so! And the House Mouse assured me she was telling the truth! Hold on...it's a little dark in here...let me just flip on an extra light set. lol. Frank

jobcontrol ( ) posted Fri, 13 December 2002 at 5:48 PM

I saw a very attractive girl on the commuter train one morning. My first thought was: "Oh, she's got a great MESH !" :-) And, yeah, I sometimes find myself pondering what morphs would do this and that face! And it is only since I got Stephanie that I know where to look for the "gastrocnemius" (hint: look at her shin). Willy

JohnRender ( ) posted Mon, 16 December 2002 at 10:31 AM

Wait, Mike's with Stephanie now? What about Vicky? And how will the Mill Kids feel about this? Will Vicky 3 cause Mike to leave Stephanie? And how do Don and Judy fit into this?

EldonG ( ) posted Mon, 16 December 2002 at 1:37 PM

The answers to all these questions, and more, tomorrow, on "As the Stomach Turns"... (anybody got a morph for that?)

MadYuri ( ) posted Mon, 16 December 2002 at 2:16 PM

Rumor has it that Vicky 3 has some male morphs, so she can have fun with himself. ;)
