Ok, folks, I figured out how to get the formula compiler working in Win7, but it will take a bit of work. What you need to do is go to Microsoft and download the virtual XP machine.
Go here:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtual-pc/download.aspx
Follow the instructions and download the XP Mode files. When you get it installed, run it and install FE there. Everything should work.Â
Get in touch if you have any problems.

Wow, what an amazing thread. Louise told me about it, and I just stopped by and read the whole thing. Greetings to all the folks I know, and to those I don't.I wasn't one of the original FE list members, but I joined somewhere near the beginning, after it had moved away from Yahoo. I used to maintain the spot file section of the FE site, so I have bazillions of spot files, but what I don't have is explicit permission to post them publicly elsewhere. I have several hundred of my own, though, so I may put them up on Juliette's site.Â
Nice to see that there is still so much interest in FE after all these years. I have it running on my Win7 64 bit system. Everything seems to work except the formula compiler. I'll see if I can figure out what's up with that.Â

I have IE8, and I don't see much difference between it and IE7. They still do tabbed browsing wrong. I'll stick with Firefox and Chrome.
Thread: Question about login on Renderosity | Forum: Community Center
I'm using Firefox 3.0.10 and for the last month or so I've had to log in every time I've come to the site. I have the "keep me logged in" checkbox checked, and I've deleted all personal data several times. Nothing has made the slightest difference.

I agree, Smugmug rocks. In addition to making purchasing easy, it's extremely customizable and very flexible. IÂ have Comcast cable, and I don't find it slow at all. It's not inexpensive, but there is no storage size limit. If you were willing to spend the time, you could upload everything to there and use it as a backup. ;-)I have both photographs and fractals there. It is organized into categories and galleries, which makes finding things easy and intuitive. I can't comment about Zenfolio, since I've never been there.

Tara,
I don't know about PS 7, but in CS3 using layers will not touch metadata. I always use at least a Levels layer, and never lose metadata. I know it's already been mentioned, but Save for Web removes metadata and Save As preserves it.

Thread: DSLR Owners - what is you MOST used lens? | Forum: Photography
My 24-105 is on the camera by default. IÂ take probably 90% of my shots with it. For animals I use the 100-400, but it's too heavy to hold, so it's virtually always on a tripod.

Very nice! I'll be really interested in seeing what you get with it. My 24-105 L is a great walkaround lens, but I'd like something wider.

I got one and reported it as spam. The site seemed poorly done, too. I'm not going to give them free publicity, but I have the URL if anyone wants to take a look.

No, we're stuck with him for almost another year.
