Phtast asked- What direct manipulation tool? Never seen it. Is this a pro pack thing? A: In stewer's post #11 he has a screen shot of the DM tool in action. Notice in the upper right hand conrenr of the screen shot a little M&M with an image of a circle with three arrows? That's how you toggle on the DM tool. It's only in Poser 5, not Pro Pack. It allows translation, constrained rotation, free rotation and scaling by directly manipulating the one of the arrows, the elipses or the object itself. I was one of those rare P5 manual readers (page 172) that was pleasantly surprised when I discovered the Direct Manipulation tool.

Dan, I'm flattered! I'm just plain old vitzer. Got Taylor's name from your post above and your website. And he's the ONLY developer listed on your site. I'm not a developer though. Does your "outside developer" plan mean that I won't be able to cut and paste the content files? You think there will be a spinout here that'll be a Daz studio forum and a poser forum? that seems like a split to me.

It's going to be interesting to see how they can really deliver an application with one developer- Taylor Wilson. How are they going to test DAZ studio? Add on new testers? Build a network of external testers like CL did for P5? And test the openGL on all those vearious hardware cards as well? How about the ability to edit figure data like you can with in a CR2? Is every tool builder that makes a Poser compatible product now going to either go out of business- morph manager comes to mind- or be forced to revise their tool to now support two different file formats and forge a split in the community? And even worse, is DAZ going to use some form of closed and protective binary file format for their content that won't be user editable- that ties into old the DAZ debacle related to their strangle-hold on distribution of CR2 data related to their content. Oddly enough, that heat on DAZ was extinguished by the California Dreaming thread. Remember how that discussion just mysteriously stopped when CL gave us something else to talk about? What a community we are. And it sounds like DAZ has a real "community" building product here ;)

An interesting trend. Why is it that when a problem like this gets resolved, the finger pointing doesn't change in the title of the reply? Certainly some of the issues are the P5's problem, but this just seems messy to me. Like leaving muddy footprints on the carpet. Maybe I'm wrong, been told that before, but it seems like threads that end up this way should be tidyed-up with a change in the thread title.

Thread: P5 Hair question from someone who does not yet possess it... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
The wind deformer seems to effect everything in the scene with dynamic properties enabled. But the wind deformer has some easy controls for the angle, the distance, the turbulence and the strength of the force, so I was easily able to isolate the wind to effect just the hair, but not a tablecloth right next to the hair. Experimenting is fun!
Thread: Morph grouping in P5 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I created a couple of morph groups that were named like the Judy and Don figures and started dragging my collection of head morphs into them. Sculpting morphs, Nose morphs, Ears, Lips, etc. I found it helped to locate some of my new groups under the main list, so I could easily drag the individual morphs into the group. The group can be moved around as well. Putting the morphs into groups has really cleaned up my other figures. The cool thing? I morph grouped my DAZ figures that were in my old ProPack runtime and they still work in ProPack just fine- the groups don't show up, but all the morphs are still in place and work fine.

PhilC, Just clicked on the link to your page. That costume for Judy is amazing. Now THAT is a cool belly dancer costume. And Judy has the hips for a belly dancer. I really like the body proportions of Judy. She looks like a real woman.
