The other night, my family and I were sitting at the dinner table (having dinner - of course) and my daughter yells out "I did it mommy!!! Lookit what I made!!" and there on her plate was a tower of mashed potatos that kind of resembled the Eiffel Tower. She said "I'm creative huh mommy?" and of course I agreed with her, she really is creative and artistic. In her hands - mashed potatos became the Eiffel Tower, and it was a masterpiece - I assure you. Now to the point (at last lol) What right do I have to tell her otherwise. The fact that she did not grow the potato, peel it,cook it,and mash it does not mean that her work was any less real and spectacular. To her it was art. Does it really matter what others think if you are happy doing whatever it is that you do? - Now, go play in your mashed potatos! lol love, Jane

I am right there with you stone. I have no problems admitting my admiration for him was the reason I became active here in the first place. I looked at his gallery all the time for inspiration (though my works look nothing like his, and are nowhere near the quality oh his). Missing Mel already, Jane.

LMAO!!!! I tried posting at epilogue too and got the "obvious use of digital tools" brush off too - as well as "evidence of smudging" ect... and I thought - Well, yeah! Of course there is obvious use of digital tools, thats my media! So I wonder is anyone ever gets an "obvious use of oil painting" or if they use pastels, perhaps an "evidence of smudging" rejecton notice. are you not supposed to be able to tell? It reminds me of an art teacher who once told me that abstracts were not real art, and if your "art" did not look like she thought it should look, it needed to be fixed. -lol good thing I skipped most of her classes. Blessed Isis, the hot 20 is okay, but not all too important in the big picture. The funniest thing is - the day I quit caring about the hot 20 is the day I actually made it in. it was like 5 minutes of pure joy followd by an overwhelming feeling of "so now what". The sad truth is that champaign did not fall from the sky, and there were no trumpet blowing angels there to welcome me in lol In all honety, I think someones voting button got jammed or something lol The real reason I wanted to post in this thread was to thank you for starting it. It really made me think about my own artwork, what category I fall into, and what direction I want to go in in the future. I have had some recent success with my artwork here, but I do not consider myself popular. It certainly is nice to see all the great comments, but it means alot when someone cares enough to point me in the right direction (towards improvement). Thank you Blessed Isis, Jane
