I use anim8or when I want fine technical control and zbrush when I wasnt to go wild and get organic. I did a tutorial called 'Creating full body morphs in Zbrush2.0' It is in the tutorial section here under zbrush and also under 'poser secrets'. With Anim8or I can get hold of single points and nudge them nicely, but nothing beats Zbrush for organic stuff (in my humble opinion). Just edited this to say that the url above is a link to the tutorial I did.Message edited on: 03/12/2005 23:39

Switching to m3 ans v3 makes it easier, send me an email, I would be happy to try to do the feline face morph. The webbed fingers are a tough one though. Diviner

Fury, I am one of the few mutant modelers that produces content Don and Judy (everyone wants V3 etc) have you located any of the stuff you need? Contact here on Renderosity and we can discuss what you need and how we can work it out. A webbed hand would be a fun challenge and the prometheans stir my age old facination with feline humanoids

I use anim8tor to build all my models and props. I have written back and forth with the creator and he is a heck of a guy. Anim8tor has a great manual in pdf, its learning curve is pretty smooth and with each new release it gets more powerfull. It has a huge user base several forums and lots of tutorials. If you have played with my free mech you can see that it works just fine for figure construction. In fact it has a great system for making full animations and scenes. Anim8tor is the only 3d software I use besides zbrush. I use zbrush to do organic forms like morphs for V3. I tryed Max, Bryce, and several others and frankly the learning curves were too steep for me. I am soon to do several anim8tor tutorials specificly to clarify the simplest way (for me) to create full Poser characters. Wings is good stuff, if anim8tor was not around, it is the one I would most definately use instead.

I do some custom morphs for folks, do you have a bigger pic? I can't tell if the finger tips are lengthened or if they are claws... Let me knowThread: oversmooth | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I understand the pain of seeing a prop all worked smooth in Poser but frankly I would take it like it is right now. It is a wicked prop! your modeling rocks. I make weapons as my favorite type of modeling and it can be really irritating when you get those nice crisp edges and then they look rounded in poser. I had a bear of a time getting the weapons in my 'kung fu in a box' weapon set to look right in poser. There are 51 props and redoing them delayed its release to my store over a month. The Max hint from odeathoflife is petty slammin' if I used Max it would have saved me a bunch of work.

Good call Antonia. I will be releasing a 4 pose set for Don today and I will do so add a live photo and some pointers. I may also put together a Vic 3 pose set as I do not have Michael.

Thanks Antonia, You rock! I have wondered why some morphs have no object, just a box when I open them in anim8or. Now I know. I heard from Elfwine who says there will be a cool render at earliest opportunity. I think since folks have put such effort into all the input on this object that I will eventually do another upgrade with a texture template and more goodies (including your Bodkin point). I hope to expand the item as time allows. Thanks again Antonia Will (diviner)

Antonia! I love the Bodkin point morph you did for the arrow! I posted it on my freebies page but did not post it on Renderosity as I will not post here without your permission, I will happily remove it from my freebies if you object to it being there but it is so nice I just had to put it up. :^)If I may, I would love to put it in the freestuff here. It is a great morph. It is like the bodkin points that were used to punch armor. While many bodkins were round or square, most were of a diamond cross section. What program did you use to do it?
The Thread wrapped around the nocking point on a bow string is a more modern concept. In the old days they did as I did with the sting in the new Texture, they used two different colors of thread and added in extra thread to the twist to make a solid block of color at the nocking point and at the loops (hence the stretch of solid black at the nocking point of the string). I too think it would be fun to add some red thread to the nocking point but I wanted to go as authentic as possible for Elfwine Longbow (what great name). Because he had such a time getting a yew bow of the correct period, and having given his last name as Longbow in his bio, I figured he would appreciate that.
Now to business...
Where are the renders? What fun is it to make a custom prop and then not see any renders? lol!

Thread: Ammo feed chain or wire | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
HI, I do the odd custom prop for people and if you can give me some level of mockup or a basic render of your figure I could whip up a character. I have made martial arts weapons that are chain or flex and are held one in each hand. If I do the right kind of IK chain for it you can move the cannon and the feed will drape in a natural way. to do this I would need some form of render of the gizmo you need to attach it to and it would be better to have the turret and cannon as a .3ds or poser ready prop so that I can model to scale. (a sketch of what type of feed chain you want would also be VERY helpfull) diviner

Sarte, I am a fairly newbie here as well and I will not comment on either your statments nor the replies of the Admin as I would rather not end up in the middle of it all.I will say that so far they have been helpful to me when I have requested help and one moderator even contacted me to let me know that one of my products was being discussed in a thread.
On the other hand, I (like a number of other modelers) will often make a prop for someone by request (like the free long bow found under poser ready props made for Elfwine). When I make a model I only require that I be able to put it in the freestuff section so that everyone can access it and that I may put 'Made by request for so and so' in the info. Please feel free to contact me through my renderosity email at any time that you need a prop that you cannot find.
I am writing not only to let you know that I do some free custom props but also to show you there are some friendly faces here.

Elfwine, vilian, and Antonia. I have again upgraded my bow prop I have made the following changes and upgrades based on your valued input. 1. Rotated the arrow 180 degrees so the guide feather faces the correct direction. 2. Added back the original more accurate bend morph so the curvature is more athentic and the string stays the correct length 3. Added morphs to the arrow. 4. Added a smartpropped suede grip w/ photo realist texture 5. Added a new more realistic texture (left the old one in because it looks more like ashwood) 6. Added info to the Readme.txt with a special thanks section to those who were involved in the second upgrade (Elfwine, Vilian and AntoniaTiger)

Antonia, I appreciate the input. The slight forward curve is intentional and is common in the Teuksbury style of self-bow. Look here to see a real one (the bow in the welcome banner is of this style.I actually tamed down the curvature in the model: http://www.english-longbow.co.uk/cat20.htm The string length does change (good eye). It is a simple prop and without making the prop far more complex than I was able to build in the time I had available between my major project it does the job. In reality the bow has much more curve when drawn than a real long bow. This is for two reasons: 1. Everyone that I showed the bow to in the original proper fully drawn curvature said, "Thats not right it does not curve enough when drawn". Look here to see the real curvature of a longbow at full draw (this is a good pic that I used to show them it was correct): http://www.english-longbow.co.uk/largepics/medieval%20bow.html 2. The Bow is actually shorter than a real long bow when set at 100% scale so that it can be shortened to a closer approximation of a smaller common bow. A shorter bow necessitates a greater amount of curvature when drawn. In the interest of getting the bow to Elfwine in a timely manner I did the work so far. It is my intent to create several morphs for the arrow and the bow, as well as another more authentic texture map to post as an upgrade. I simply did as I was able in the time available. I love the input, it shows me that people are using the product and have an interest in a more authentic bow prop. Thankyou again, diviner

Elfwine, When I made the bow I set it up for my character 'The left handed stranger' I forgot to reset it for a right hander when I posted it. I have reposted it with the morph I made to switch the rest to the correct side for a righty and also changed the pose to reflect this just hop to my site and down load the new zip, set the morph 'change rest' to 1.00 to correct which side it is on. Also Antonia, a yew bow IS very stiff in the center. That is because of the compression resistance of the heartwood and the expansion resistance of the out wood.
