Curios to see my post pop to the fore but I know well this is an ongoing issue. I will add what I have learned in the interim because while I still struggle with this I have come up with a few strategies that can ameliorate the problem.

• The geometry of the model and textures take up memory on your care. The more complex or larger these ore for either the greater chance your render will no longer fit into you GPU's memory and you will be relegated to the CPU. You can reduce geometry and textures but you also lose quality. The best answer is to get a bigger GPU video card with lots of memory like the GTX 3090, oh wait ;)

• Depending on you rig you card can start getting thermal checks. I use TechPowerUp to monitor for this and coupled a little fan I purloined from my daughter I have found a constant stream of air in addition top case fans can speed up renders. Of course I water cooled GPU would help but see item one for resolving that issue.

• Lights, the more complex you lighting the more intensive the calculation will be to complete your render. It's often a tricky balance between quality and speed here.

• Closed raytracing. I have found experimentally that rendering inside a close box can take longer. If you allow your ray traces to escape to infinity it appear that Iray will kill them off rather than doing all the reflection calculations. Your mileage may vary here.

That's what I have off the top of my head, oh wait another alert about an RTX 3090. Gotta go.

I don think these are texture errors but artifacts related to a combination of your monitor and the way the overlay and text are displayed with respect to the underlying tones of the character's skin. At certain levels of zoom I can't see any errors. But at different zoom values I see blocks of discoloration which I assume are the errors you are referring to. When I switch to my better monitor the artifacts disappear altogether. Another clue is you will notice that the blocks of discoloration seem to correlate to the raster line where the overlay is. I'm tempted to get the character myself just to validate this hypothesis. One can always use another Asian beauty. ;)

I suspect there is a daemon process running which has gotten itself into an unresponsive state. I've examined the running processes at a high level when this condition presents itself but nothing looked obvious.

OK, I tried it once again and paid very close attention to all my numbers and the transaction went through and was approved. Perhaps I had a typo before but it's odd that it maid it through to card processor. Products are downloaded. Thanks for your help Kristi.

Ok so what do I need to do to complete my order? Review my address data, which I don't believe has changed in a very long time, and resubmit? Hmm upon reviewing my address data I see that the second letter of my state was missing. Could this be what is throwing off your 'AVS' check? I suspect that typo has been there for a while and you've tightened your checks which is a good thing. In any case if you can confirm that is the possible issue I will correct the fields and re-submit my order.

OK so something has changed. Your telling me that credit card transactions are now taking 2 to 7 days and I need to supply a zip code and address? I don't recall being prompted for any of that information.

Yes something has happened to the check out screen. Missing buttons make it impossible to check out.

I had what appears to be a similar problem with blonde hair rendering very light in Iray. I was using Fantasy hair by 3DUniverse. I experimented with some of the texture settings and when I changed the Base Mixing option from "PBR Specular/Gosssiness" to "Weighted" I ended up with something that looked more reasonable.

Had the problem arise again recently and ended up finding my original thread. I tried the editing of the dsf per the link posted by SpoffNinja and that appears to work great. Thanks.
