Quote - This is the exact answer I was looking for, but I have one more question, in preferences-Directories, which tab would I use to point Daz Studio to these folders?
Daz/Studio/content
Poser Content
Other Imported Content
yeah, I'm new at this too, lol.
thanks for any help
cimaira
? = your external drive
Daz/Studio/content = ?:/DAZ/Studio/content
Poser Content = ?:/DAZ/Studio/content
                           ?:/Poser
Move the complete content directory from C:/Program Files/DAZ/Studio
to your external Drive     ?:/DAZ/Studio
I moved Posers to       ?:/Poser
Then deleted the poser program on the C drive sence I never use the actual
program. I like DAZ better, But DAZ sees the directory.
Others to
 ?:/Working/DAZ Files
 ?:/Working/Scene Files
 ?:/Utilities/Objects
 ?:/Utilities/Backgrounds
 ?:/Utilities/Materials
 ?:/Utilities/Textures
and so on, the UtilitiesTextures and Materials are NOT the same as the
ones in runtime do not chang the content structure until you understand
how it works. When your ready to make changes so that you can organize
the files better you can PM me back. There are many things you can do to
make DAZ easer to use.

What are you looking for.
Your picture is your picture. No one can say whats in your head.
If your are looking for what any one of us would do with it, you
will find many different answers, for each will see it differently
in there head.
If you want our honest opinion of what we would do with it, thats
another story.
Myself just to go easy the lighting is off, there is no atmosphere
and its kind of plane. I see in my head what I would do but thats
me. Play with the lighting. If you are rendering in Daz save it and
open it in Bryce Play with lights and moon shadows. I could go
on and on I do not think thats what you want.
You have a good idea now bring it to life. If you really need help
to do that PM me I try to point you in the right direction.

Which program Daz Studio or Poser Both different.
Daz select Create and pick the type of light you want,
do one at a time select the light and play with its settings
you will see the effect it has, then delete it and try a different
one and so on untill you see what each will do. Do a test render
to see how things turn out.
Poser I do not use.

No problem.
I have the Daz program on my C drive and the content on my
external drive.
On the Ext Drive I set up a folder called Studio. I moved the complete
content folder to Studio. open DAZ goto Edit/Preferances or hit F2
Then Directories / DAZ|Studio Content Directories
select Add then locate and select   ?:/Studio/content
Example: Mine-
E:/DAZ/Studio/content          Holds all Figure related (DAZ|Studio Content Directories)
E:/DAZ/Studio_2/content2Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Holds all Accessories related (Poser Content Directories)
My Drive is the
Maxtor 750gig and
MyBook 1T Net Drive.
My content directories are about 200gig total

Carrara can import WaveFront .obj and BioVision .bvh as well as poser files.
Daz will export to the first two.

There are differances.
I have the whole set
Surface
Effects
Ghost
Partical3
They are cool and have some nice effects.
I do not like to render in DAZ because of the limatations.
So I do not use them much. I can achieve most of that in Bryce in Mat Settings.
I do have a scene with Partical3 It can be seen in my Gallery.
http://falconarts.com ( Gallerys / Adult 2 )
http://townelineproductions.com/falconarts/adult2/Jungle Queen.html
Partical3 only works in Poser :-(
I prefer Bryce For 90% of my Renders.

 A note from rebelmommy states
D/S users will need to site mail me with thier order number to get the files that work properly in D/SÂ Â Contact the merchantÂ
or edit the cr2 file. Contacting the merchant will be easer.
DAZ Files and poser files work slightly differant after a
while you will get used to the differances and adjust.

Quote - Speaking of Bryce, how does one change size and resolution perameters?
Working in Brice::
Files: Document setup
for example
I set pix size: 880x570 For Design work
Rendering to Disk::
Files: Render to disk:
when I render that above work I set
output resolution to 100
output size in inches 17x11
You can set to what will do for your pix.

I have render times of up to 4 days of corse I am rendering
to the largest allowed by DAZ.
In Bryce I render to 13"x17" @ 300dpi

Thread: Content Downloading/Folder Problems | Forum: DAZ|Studio
Some of the downloads require the purchase of
a particular item for them to work.
Always check to see if it requires something else
to work properly or if it is a stand alone item.
A .daz file builds the scene from data files.
The data files tell it how the geometries,
material, textures, morphs.ect: go together
to create the scene.
To have the data file you would have loaded
the original item into your scene, hence creating the data file.
