Im a new guy and am not so crazy buying stuff, so i figured id download the free stuff...but i get an erorr message on tring to use the characters it States: "One or my files could not be found while loading file: C/Program Files/DAZ/Studio/Content/content/Samantha/samantha.daz
Make sure your DAZ I Studio content directories are correctly set in Edit > Preferences> Directories menu tab."

I have however put the downloaded content in with the free content from the DAZ site. If anyone could help me out id be grateful.

Also, I have a .daz file and a DAZ scene file, is that all i need?

No - at the least you need the geometry files from the data folder that specify the shapes of the items in the scene, and you may need textures to adjust the appearance of the surfaces from flat colours too.  If you have just a .daz file and its thumbnail then it sounds incomplete - do you have a link?

Some of the downloads require the purchase of
a particular item for them to work.
Always check to see if it requires something else
to work properly or if it is a stand alone item.

A .daz file builds the scene from data files.
The data files tell it how the geometries,
material, textures, morphs.ect: go together
to create the scene.
To have the data file you would have loaded
the original item into your scene, hence creating the data file.
