Thread: Now is Poser 7 worth getting? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Hi, with Poser 7, I can render larger files than before: for instance I just rendered a 306 mg pz3 file without it crashing, however, it is slower than Poser 6. On the other hand I can now reduce the min bias of my depth mapped shadows to .1... much improving them to the point where they're almost as accurate as ray traced ones. Poser 7 now loads real hdri files with great results and the fast scatter is beautiful and fast in rendering. You can also do 'instances' of objects, ie, copy loaded objects directly and place them where you want. I say 'instances' because Vue 6 seems to only import the first and original object, at least for me, which makes me think they might be treated that way.
I've read some have had problems installing P7 in Vista, however, I'm running P7 in Vista with no problems and my sys configuration is low tech....no fancy tweaks. I have a dual core, first generation and render Poser files as a separate process using two threads and all seems fine.
Hope this helps,
regards...
Thread: Poser 7 & Vista | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Hi, not so, according to Microsoft Developers Network, Vista can load 4 gig of ram, but tends to keep half for itself. Again, according to the above, there is a /3gig switch in the boot.ini which can force Windows to only use 1 gig and reserve 3 for programs. Of course, I couldn't find a boot.ini in my Vista, but I know xp had one :) some interesting and informative articles on this topic;

Thread: CrossDresser 2.3 Out | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Hi, I got it recently and only had one problem in regards to file locations. I'm running Vista ultimate and Poser 7. Mine does say 'no current subscription' at the bottom left but at the right under 'installed figures' everything is loaded that I bought. I think the subscription thing is related to something not needed for the program to run. If you ignore it and convert the clothing, it should work. A complex garment on 'high quality' can take as much as 45 minutes on my machine which is a dual core 3gighz. The falloff zones might need tweaking though. My intial problem was that the program did not make directories as per their help file and only for the main runtime as well. If you convert clothes in an added runtime, you must manually create an '!convert' folder at the top of your character folder since the program only does this for the main folder whereas in the added runtimes it was creating subfolders named 'evilinnocence!converted' and not saving anything there! I found this out by trial and error. Once I created the proper folders, everything worked fine and I could find the conversions there.
Hope this helps

Simply choose the nostril node or material zone if in P4 and choose a dark grey-brown color instead of the texture map. Frees up memory and guarantees a dark nostril.
