I've noticed that trend in Poser products and artwork: the over-sexualization of women. Much as I enjoy seeing these outfits, many of them are not what most women would want to wear. I don't know if we're as bad as the comic books or acually worse.Unfilteted opinion on the dress: I personally, as a female, think it really could use more coverage. We have way too much skimpywear as it is. Can at least the nipples not be hanging out please?
[sigh] And I would argue, at my age, that I am probably as much a part of the problem as younger people are..

On the left side, you see my method, which admittedly doesn't actually look bad. And the right side is the OR gate result.

Just passing through. I used his OR gate to turn an image into transparency mask. Just put the image to be masked (a colorful tattoo image on a white background) into the OR gate and sent the output as a pure black and white mask to the transparency input. Made it into a wonderful decal-like tattoo, with good colors and black was truly black. (I've been experimenting with the late Shana's Inked series, turning them into Material Layers.)

That does look pretty good. Correct me if I'm wrong, but after you parented the eyes to La Femme's eyes, couldn't you simply save a copy and have the eyes already installed and parented when you loaded La Femme2Eyes.cr2?Thalek posted at 9:56 AM Mon, 17 April 2023 - #4462460

You'll need to fiddle around in Blender to export the pupil dilation morph, but otherwise it plays nicely in Poser. I have PrincipledBSDF shaders on the sclera, iris, and "wet surface," with a Glass shader on the cornea, which properly bends the light into the iris (which, of course, is its purpose IRL). The latter requires rendering with refracting caustics or it will render too dark, but it looks great in practice.Any particular model? So, you hid the default eyes and put the replacements in? The eyes have separate controls? All Poser figures have awful eyes, as far as I can tell. That's why I invested in an anatomically correct eye model on CGTrader, which you can see in my render above. Superfly has really emphasized the flaws in the existing figures' eyes.
Yeah, I have the default eyes hidden, with the new eye parented to them so they inherit the moves of the original eyes. I have to manually place the eye each time I use it (someone better than me at these things could probably script it, but...), but I like the results. It's probably higher poly than the original eye part, but I don't find it kills performance. Long term I'd like to convert some of my existing eye textures for Caraesarpro's eye, but for the moment I've been using high-res iris textures by Carel5103 (also at CGTrader).

One can also render background characters and use them as a background or as a layer with an alpha channel for compositing. I remember, years ago, one person managed to get I can't remember how many figures into a scene by doing a few at a time and compositing layers together. It was some fantastic number: a hundred or perhaps even a thousand. Either one was well beyond the capacity at the time and probably still is. (I've never been that ambitious, and I don't have a GPU that is Poser-compatible in the first place.)Depending on how your scene is set up, props and figures that are delegated to background filler don't need complicated material shaders. Keep it as simplistic as possible.

According to the manual (you'd think a former electronic service technician would read those more often!), Adaptive Sampling is a way to speed up render times. When it detects that additional sampling will make little or no difference, according to the threshold WE set, it simply halts the render. This way, you get a good quality render while not having to render unnecessary samples if the extra samples won't make much additional improvement. A setting of .050 lets you do a quick and dirty render to see if the scene "works" for you, without doing a full render. A setting of .010 does a more meticulous job. So does a setting of .005, at the cost of longer rendering times, of course. A setting of .000 apparently is the equivalent of turning it off.ok so it look like no matter what set the render sample its only render 1 sample or 30 out of a 100 ??????
Edited to add: a setting of .0001 is apparently the same as entering zero, as it ran all of the samples.

Turn off the box labeled "Adaptive sampling w/Threshold". That appears to be what is interfering. I have not played with changing the threshold level yet.ok so it look like no matter what set the render sample its only render 1 sample or 30 out of a 100 ??????

Anyway, thanks to you and after about seven reinstalls I am back working, I cannot tell you how much I appreciate your help.
Yeah, even when you put your content on another drive, installation still creates a bare bones runtime on your C: drive. And as you both pointed out, if you re-use your old preferences file, it still looks in all the old familiar places for your content, then gets very depressed when it can't find it. I always had a small C: drive, so I've been putting my content on another, larger drive ever since Poser started letting us do it. Because of that, I've never had a chance to make that particular mistake with the preferences, but believe me, I would have done the same thing if I'd had to move stuff and re-install. After all, my preferences are set up the way I want them . . . why do it all over again? Well, now we know why we should consider doing it all over again, at least after rearranging locations. As I said, it would never have occurred to me not to.

Oops sorry I didn't get your joke correctly as I was tired. I don't why I'm using this all the time, I probably eat one each 5 or 10 years...Wow, Y-Phil, I guess someone was hungry when explaining stuff 🤣
You wanted to give them a fast response, filled with information?
You wanted to get to the meat of the matter?
Or given how tired you were, perhaps you were simply fried?

Thanks! You've always given me good advice over the years.
I heard the term "compute capability" for the first time about twelve hours ago. My board is a 3.0, of course. And my preliminary research is showing that not every sales site reports the compute capability as part of the specs. I just LOVE the news that the model numbers don't imply better capabilities with higher model numbers, of course. Why would anyone want it simple and easy?
Tentative research indicates I may need to upgrade my power supply, as well. And Microsoft tells me that my processor won't work with Windows 11, so I imagine that's another deadline I'm facing. [wry smile]Yeah. I suspect that rendering would get a little problematic if I did that on two different copies at the same time. I don't have liquid cooling, and I probably don't have enough fans to air cool a tortured CPU trying to do that. "Och, Cap'n, but the solder's starting to melt! Can we back it doon to a mere 150% of the power rating?"
I have a talent for breaking software. I already broke the layers preview display just by trying to get a closer look at what I was doing. [wry smile] Even managed to have my layer display properly in Pose room and disappear utterly in the thumbnail when I saved it. As they accidentally introduced a bug in the Superfly rendering on the second release, I'm really looking forward to the third release.
I'm glad that even different versions of the same major release can play nicely if they take turns. I would have thought that each one would write over the preferences and such of which ever one had been used previously.
Well, off to bed, and then, when I'm awake again, I'll get back to creating material layers for Shana's Inked series. Think I'll give 'em to her soul mate so he can distribute them as freebies if he likes.
Thanks again, Charles.
