Thanks for the nod guys. I'll hang on to my stuff until the new site opens, if thats what happens. However, my request still stands. I will need to know how to setup a site so I can link to Ed and Jack's new place. So, any guidence will be welcome. IsaacNewton
Thread: How do I sumbit something for the Free Stuff? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Have I been missing something here? What is going on (ah, a familiar cry)? How do I find out about it, and what it might mean? What new site? Somebody, please explain to an ancient physisist. IsaacNewton
Thread: Importing animations from Poser4 to Carrara..possible? | Forum: Carrara
Thanks, Clint. At least now I can stop banging my head on that particular wall. This is a pity because Carrara has much better rendering facilities than Poser. But; posing P4 characters in Carrara-- forget it, unless you're seriously into self-inflicted pain! I thought about the possibility of posing the characters in P4 then exporting them as kind of "key frames", then importing them into Carrara and asking it to tween the two poses. But I haven't been able to do that and I don't see how it's possible. Well, time for me to find another wall ... ah, yes, shaders! IsaacNewton
Thread: Boolean errors? | Forum: Carrara
NarkBremmer wrote: Most of the funky artifact issues are a symptom of too low a poly count on the faces being changed by the boolean, however. If that is the case, then one would expect that the more complicated the objects (which are the subject of the Boolean operation), then the more likely it is to suceed without errors. Or have I misunderstood? In my experience (limited though it is), the trick to succesful Boolean operations is to keep the objects simple or at least reduce the number of verticies as low as possible in the area of interaction. For example if you try to do a Boolean subtraction/union of two significantly overlapping Poser body parts, then the result is almost always a crash. However, if you delete most of the parts that are not going to appear anyway, then Carrara may be able to cope. I would be more than happy to have Antoine correct me if I'm wrong, or to make some suggestions for reducing Boolean problems (other than "don't go there!"), as I seem to use them a lot - they are very useful critters (potentially)! Thread: Carrara - is it worth it ? | Forum: Carrara
I'm just getting into Carrara and my comment would be; it would be great if it actually did what it was supposed to, it's got more bugs than a swamp. However, my comments are limited sofar to the vertex modeller. If online support ever becomes available then maybe it will be worth the money. You might consider waiting a while to find out what happens wthi Metawhatever!
Thread: Carrara: convert two meshes to a single mesh? | Forum: Carrara
I like the idea, Chip. However, I can't get it to work. Carrara doesn't give the option of exporting as a single object. (I tried all the formats available) It does give the option on importing, to import as a single mesh, however, it still recognises that there is more than one object. Moreover, I can't get any part of it into the vertex modelling room. As far as I can see, it is still two intermingled meshes. You might ask; what's the problem, if it behaves as a normal object in poser? Which it does, as far as I can tell. Well, I want to work on the object as an .obj file so that I can make morphs for it! For that, I need a single continuous mesh. Do any other Carrara techies have any bright ideas? IsaacNewton
Thread: Help to join objects inorder to make clothes | Forum: Carrara
Thanks willf, I just tried it and it works with my Poser figure parts. I must say though, it's a stupid way of having to do this simple task. Why didn't Metacreations just make it possible to select two items in the Assembly room and then have them appear in the model room? Furthermore, I would have thought that Metacreations would have had the common sense to make it obvious that they had chosen to use this obscure method if putting two objects into the modelling room, or at least to have mentioned it somewhere in passing somewhere in the manual! Thanks again, willf, now I can begin to use the program again. IsaacNewton

Thread: This is not just a foreign order problem... | Forum: MarketPlace Customers
Can we assume that Renderosity will make a general announcement when the problem(s) are fixed. So that we can come back and buy the stuff we want without delay?
Thread: This is not just a foreign order problem... | Forum: MarketPlace Customers
Yep, me as well. I want to make an order but can't. I know my credit card is good but I still get an AVS connection problem. I live in The Netherlands. How long has this problem been going on? When will it be solved?
