There's one outside Tulsa, Oklahoma that had a rather extensive website a year or so ago...they teach how to make shoes from scratch and scrap, the old fashioned way, so there may be info there you could use. Hmmm....lessee... Ok, as one of those North American Mongrels who happens to be 2/3 Native American of mixed Nation, and the rest is Celt and mixed western European "honkies," (OHMYGOD>>>DID HE REAALLY SAY THAT??)I have to go with what the Elders here taught me and combine it with what the White schools taught me. Every single self-aware person has a sense of "self" and "other." Ethnicity is decided by the "ethnic" group who controls the media and the situation. Whether it's religious (yep, I'm a dirt hugging 'alternative religion' Pastor), political (liberal conserviative), or racial, everyone tends to point their finger at someone else and declare them "other." As an American, and a disabled veteran, I take marginal offense when people point a finger at me and say things like "well, what do you expect, he's an American." That creates an artificial ethnicity that I have to live inside at that moment. How about I just declare my ethnicity as "me," and everyone else does the same?

I think I agree. One of the workshops I attended this last academic year on teaching creative writing was chaired by someone with a MFA (Masters in Fine Arts, a 'terminal' degree) who is an editor and writer wannabe. He kept telling everyone that attention to detail and working out every aspect of the story/novel/screenplay had to be done before a single line could be written. I had to disagree. Most of my work that I've been paid for has started out as just an idea and grown to life as I created it...like my 6 kids. I'm the same way with Poser. I just look at the stuff I have, experiment with combinations, and somewhere, somehow, I end up with a visual story. Good work, by the way.

I've tried several times to make sense of the program and so far I haven't been able to produce anything with it. I'll keep trying because I know that it's got to be me and not the programming. Is there a tutorial available somewhere?

Ok, if I had any talent at all in modelling, what I would do is get rid of the hand, open the mouth of the dragon to allow the resonance of the notes to amplify, and scale it so that it was a lap harp. I agree in that I would probably download it from the Freebies. BTW, think of the body of the harp as a sound box, like a guitar body, and the mouth as the sound hole, again, like a guitar.

Movida, that's an incredible image. Check the skin tones and see if he should be a tad darker. We've got a friend here who's name translates out to "the color of mud" because that's the color his skin turns during the summer when he's outdoors working all the time. But, then again, the mud here is iron rich and tends to have a dark, reddish-brown tone. Love the work on the cheekbones, brow ridge, and nose. You will notice that the skin tones are lighter than those of the Eastern Band due to interbreeding with caucasians and a lack of outdoor time. Acculturation and assimilation has taken its toll on the facial structure and skin tones, but if you think of the skin tones of the Andean Indians, the central American natives, you will be really close. Good work, everyone...now if these beauties were only available for M2! I haven't found the need to spend the price of a used car to purchase M3...yet.

You want to be very careful not to fall into the trap of using a Caucasian and putting a brown tint on the skin. Out here we call that the "Barbi-hontis" syndrome; It's a white chick playing Indian. Also, hit the archives of the Smithsonian and the Library of Congress for facial structures as well as factual clothing. One of the things I hear from the Elders here, the few that acknowledge the Internet, is that the pictures are nice but "all that fantasy crap gots to go." Everyone has a bone to pick, a cross to bear, a political agenda these days. I think that respecting the Nations and working from the factual information readily available is the best bet. Good luck, and keep us posted on the project! I'd be thrilled if someone created a set of "real" Native Americans for Poser.
