UVMPro is the choice because it has got a learning curve thats more a straight line than a curve. Plus it works reliable. Plus the author (Steve Cox) is supporting his customers
A bit cheaper, and far more versatile is Ultimate Unwrap 3D Pro, but doesn't follow the "conventions" in 3d applications, if there are any at all...
Both app's, besides an orderly unwrapping of course, allow you to direct even single vertices to materials and groups - which can be important.
And I agree with Phil, on my main 'pooter UVMP and UUnwrap are both in autostart.
If you purchase UVMPro via Kagi - DON'T use PayPal as payment option. Took me 20 days to get the deal processed....

A Pro tools doesn't make you a pro, a Pro knows how to use his tools.

Robert: *$200 seems quite reasonable to me. It's about the price of a couple of fairly fancy restaurant meals -- or perhaps ~four tanks of gasoline at current pump prices.
*You live in paradise - paid yesterday the equivalent of about 180 USD for
                                                                     ONE
filling of 85 litres.
And having played around with PP a little - I would have paid the 200 bucks with a dirty grin for renderqueuing/-batching and -farming only. The only problem I am having now, is, how do I make look the results like Poser.... ;-}
And I don't understand all the anger - can't rememenber that one came along and forced me to buy it.*
Thread: Rendo a 3d ghetto? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Big words about "art", everybody!
Art has nothing to do with other peoples opinion. Art has nothing to do with accuracy. Art has nothing to do with anything, but itself.
Art touches the heart. Of course there are a lot of works inside our gallery that do not touch our hearts - but they touched the heart of the people who created them. And that touches my heart.
I don't care what this Mortal Rook guy says - if Rendo was, is or becomes a "ghetto" of people being happy with what they are doing, I will happily and proudly be part of it. And simply let the people play.
And another word about "accurate art": who ever tries to measure "art" or even craftsmanship on "accuracy", should place himself amidst Auguste Rodins "People Of Calais" and open his/her eyes.
*A bit more respect for the word "ghetto" and it's original meaning would have been good, by the way.
Thread: same old...same..I found in smithMicro that text about Poser and render 'skills' | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
What turned out to be a good idea (after throwing away my 8 GB Ram capable mainboards and installing 16 GB to the new ones (under XPP x64), was to install a 150 GB WesternDigital Raptor HDD. I've got the OS and (amongst 2 other app's ) Poser 7 incl. the runtime on this HDD, everything else - images, pz3's, backups and so on - are kept on different dumb (cheap...) 500 GB HDDs.
As soon as I have made my second million (I failed making the first one) I'll try to separate OS and applications to 2 Raptors.
I don't know (nor do I care) how much Ram is P7 using of the 16 GB available - what counts for me is, that it's stable.
The Raptor HDD makes even opening P7 fun - just enough time to light a cigarette where I could easily smoke a cigar before. And the whole thing is definitely fast.
A fine trick a friend showed me was to cross-clone the runtime folders of the two machines I use for renders - it's not multinode rendering, but at least I can have two machines working on renders of the same topic.
And now I'm waiting for P7Pro, with the render farming they promised (about half a year ago...)
...waiting...

Editing cr2 files? What for???
No, just a joke.
Try "Komodo" from www.activestate.com. Opens as many instances as you want plus a number of files per instance that is just limited by your 'pooters ressources. Plus the thing speaks python, has every function an editing tool should have and no, I am not getting any commissions. There should also be a free version downloadable, afaik.
I used about every "tool" in the beginning, always got back to manual editing - 'coz I see what I'm doing... old fashioned craftsman that I am....

Ok - here you are. The zip installs to "Props", but I didn't make one of my beautiful thumbnails, it's just what P7 creates. The image ratio is 14:10, both for the back and the ground (which are separate props, but load together. If you are using other y/x ratios, simply wheel the props dimensions until they fit.Have fun.
