Quote - Poser 6 makes its own material files in the material room.
Yes indeed. Unless someone is trying to make files that are backwards compatable
with P4 to sell commercially there is no reason to continue using the old hack of
mat pose files. They are obsolete as of Poser 5 and way too much time and trouble
as compared to just making up a material collection in the material room.
Plus a simple material file can be put on anything, clothes, props, background,
characters, one file for all. And if you use procedurals you don't fill up your hard drive
with a bunch of jpeg texture files.
Thread: We need to fix this Face Room!!!!!!!!!!!!!! | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Since SR2 Poser 6 has been rock solid for me, and with SR3 I haven't noticed any difference.
(I'm not even sure what SR3 was supposed to do, as I haven't noticed any difference.)
I agree with Blackhearted that it would be nice if the joints would bend more realistically.
Even poses that I can do with my old and stiff body look a mess in Poser, especially
sitting poses, with the hips and thigh getting all scrunched together. Elbows never
look quite right either when you bend the arm too much.
I do like what they did with the cloth room. It is far more faster and stable.
With some clothing items the animation progresses in almost real time.

Quote - Yep, I'm with destro75 on this one - the only real issues Poser needs to address are basic functionality problems like lack of multiple undos, the memory leak issues and render crashes.
An in-built Mat file maker would be good and the ability to save partial poses wouldn't go astray either, heheh. (if I'm missing this functionality in P6 please point me at it!)
Poser 6 does indeed have a built in Mat file maker. Just go to the material room,
select the object you want to make a Mat file of, click the + sign at the bottom
of the material library. You get a pop-up window. Click select material collection
and you get another pop-up window. Select the material zones you want in your
collection, hit OK, then give your collection a name and hit OK. Then when you
want to apply this Mat file to another figure just select the figure, select the
Mat file, and click on the check mark.

I've noticed if you use procedurals, such as changing the U and V coordinates on the
image node, that they often don't show up in the preview mode.

I have never had a problem with either the P5 or the P6 face camera either.
Also if you could post a screenshot of your camera settings for the face camera
for both P5 and P6.
Thread: So what have you all done with your older versions of Poser? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I still have P5 on my machine for no particular reason, but the hard drive is 130 Gbytes
so it's not like its taking up a lot of room. Every once in a while someone asks a P5
specific question and I fire it up to see if I can answer them. Otherwise it's strictly P6
whenever I want to do any Poser work.

Have you checked to see you have the most recent drivers for your video card?
Have you intalled the latest Poser service release? It is Service Release 3.
If not, when you do install it, first uninstall Poser 6, then reinstall Poser 6,
then before you open Poser 6 or do anything else, install Service Release 3.
Do these first before blaming the computer.
If that still doesn't help you may need more memory on your computer,
you didn't say how much you have.

Basically V3 is to Poser what Windows is to computers. People love her, people
hate her, but almost everyone uses her.

Check your ray trace bias in the light settings and adjust it up or down and see if that helps.

Please see:
http://www.poserclub.jp/diary_comment.htm?msgid=1136269362&owner=ibr_remoteAlthough I annoted the screenshots in my poor Japanese, it is pretty obvious (and simple) what you need to do.
Cheers
PS - ignore the last two pictures - those are instructions on how to make a puffy ambominable snowwoman doll.
LOL, that last girl would make a great prop for an adult novelty store.

I thought so, darn it, and the final render was so pretty! Maybe I'll just post the funky finger version anyway. hahaha
Thanks for the wacro tip also.
Steve
Would it be at all possible to fix the finger in post work? Assuming you have Photoshop
or Paint Shop Pro, couldn't you just select the finger, cut it, and reposition it?
Thread: stretches marks on a render | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - not sure where to post this really. it happens when i render in poser so i'll try here first.
i exported an object from max and imported it into poser to see what it looks like there. after doing a quick render it comes back with lots of crap on it, any idea how to get rid of it please. i have a feeling its stretched mesh but knowing it and getting rid of it are two different things lol
billy
You probably need to adjust your UV map. Load your object file into a program like
UV Mapper and see what it looks like. What I suspect is that the polygons of the
stretched out parts are actually all scrunched together on the UV map. You will have
to spread them out in the UV Map by trying a different mapping scheme.
Note: don't spread out the actual polygons in the object file themselves. You need
to spread out the UV map polygons.

Quote - "It will probably work in Poser 1 thru 4 because this is just a problem
specific to the Firefly renderer...."Almost but not quite true (to be pedantic..)
In P5, using the double-sided square (or almost anything which has double-sided polys) with the P4 render can also cause artefacts. Different artefacts, and not so noticible, but there...
They show up as thin, horizontal, randomly-spaced dark lines....
Interesting. Because although I almost exlusively use Poser 6 now, I still have Poser 5
loaded on my machine. And if I use the Poser 4 renderer with Poser 5 the odd little
rectangular boxes don't show up. They only show up when I use the Poser 5 Firefly
renderer. But then again another reason why I almost always use Poser 6 anymore
and just don't have to worry about the Poser 5 bugs. In fact about the only time
I fire up Poser 5 is when a Poser 5 question like this pops up.
Thread: CP site; New site launched and new poser figures available for preview . . . | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - The way I see it, EF / CP could have certainly decided to just charge everyone for all the updates regardless of any imagined or real entitlements since we don't have the final say. So the fact that we're getting these without paying extra (such as instead having to buy Poser 7) to get these updates is why I'd consider them it to be free. It might be sad, but there are plenty of other software companies that wouldn't be as "nice".
All of "evil" DAZ's updates have been free. And that's not even counting the free
figures they are now giving away such as Victoria 3.0, which even has the updates
included in the newest FREE download.
