I just downloaded all 4 parts - and had a quick inspection:
there are approx. 10 different face textures (with/without beard) hires 2500x2500 pixel
and a couple of body textures - hires 4000x4000 pixels.
they look very (photo)realistic.
Thread: How do you apply a displacement map? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I am using displacement mapping on a simple plane to simulate water ripples.
the effect is rather cool. (you need to have reflections set on as well).
here is an example:

at the moment I am exploring the new features of Poser5 - but most work I am still doing with Poser4.
Poser5 renders with Poser4 engine nearly as fast as Poser4. With firefly-traytracing option and production quality it takes approx. 5 to 7x the time.

Hi Acadia,
I just uploaded another scene to my gallery - this time into the product
showcase gallery.
here I did some other tests with the waterplane.
I used a tutorial from fran_joel here at r'osity which helped very much:
"Renderosity Digital Art Community - Tutorials: How to make water in Poser"
dated from 2005 - along with screenshots

Hi all ,
thanks for the nice comments :)
and - yes - I saw your pic "Roman Bath" great work on the light&shadows.
yes - the green water on the fotos is not so very inviting ... 8)
here is another pic I rendered on Sunday - using the firefly renderer from Poser5 (indeed - my first ever published pic done with Poser5. I tried to get better water reflections - Nudity)

Thread: Magnets and where? :/ | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I used magnets a lot over the last weeks. a good trick to ease the use of a
magnet is the following approach:
add a cube to the scene, select the cube and add a magnet. in the material setting
set the transparency of that cube to approx 80%, so you can see what you are doing.
now it's much easier to move and rotate the magnet.
move the cube and the magnet moves as well.
move the magnet into the proper position before you start.
now select the magnet prop (not the base, not the zone) and add objects to
be deformed, like that part(s) of the clothing that should be affected.
now move the magnet in y-, x- and z-direction or rotate it and see,
what happens.
you can easily adjust the magnet zone, it is like an invisible sphere. use the
top or front camera to move it into the desired position. you can scale
the magnet zone in y-, x- and z-direction. play with it.
when the deformation is what you had in mind you may spawn a morph target
for your clothing piece. after then you may delete the magnet.
now use your new morph and set it to 1 or any other value.

Thread: I'm an idiot (but you know that already) | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
oh - I can wait. one day - maybe - I'll switch over to V4.
I've collected so much stuff for V3 - even purchased items - that I've never
used so far. when I am browsing through my archived CDs there is so much I intended
to use - and forgot about. I think I'll have much fun playing with V3 the
next months. and I didn't manage yet to install the free Poser5 version.
that's the next step (after installing a new HD first ...)

Attached Link: Joe's Poser Primitives
Hi,I have a couple of Poser primitives in my free download area:
http://www.joes3dfantasyworlds.com/down/primitives/primitives01.htm
among them there is a morphing ring as well, you can adjust the thickness.
you may need to scale it in y-direction to adjust it.
or you may use my tubes.
hope this helps :)
