I wouldn't upgrade yet. In the fall a dual core athlon is coming out which should be worth the wait. Also 2 gigs of ram is much better than 1 gig. I upgraded my ram and felt a noticable increase. The dual core athlon with 2 gigs of ram and 256 ram video card should be very powerful. Plus, a 64 bit operating system and when vue can work with 64 bit operating systems will also be better. The new operarting system can also handle more than 4 gigs of ram. However, this is only my 2 cents and all these upgrades need to come together.

Thanks for the tips.
I think answering yes to vue when asking if nodes should be added to keep the terrain shape is the right answer, but if your material is mixed and already have answered yes and the question is asked again while you are working on the sub material of the mix material, you should answer no to keep the integrity of the terrain, since the nodes are already correct.

I think the water looks great but the picture lacks depth. The house's lighting is nice. The material for the terrain that the house is on shoud be more complex. Good luck.

I am getting great support from e-on and have been for years. I am surprised at this sentiment. The support site is especially responsive for me. Thanks e-on. I hope you have better success with support.

Thanks for helping that is very nice of you. It doesn't always happen on every try, so I am at a lost. Thanks again. I am learning to work with this unpredictability.

It is hard to understand why, but when I hit zero edge and then paint on it and close the editor and reopen the editor the terrain changes shape. I didn't change position, size, or rotation of the terrain, so why? Is this a bug? It feels like one and slowed down a project of mine considerably. Should it be reported? Why have an editor if it can't be controlled?

With odd frame sizes I render big then crop in Photoshop. It gives me more control of framing. Maybe this could help.
Thread: Shadow Independence | Forum: Vue
Thank you for helping. I have this picture I was working on that has a birdbath next to a tree. The birdbath should have a hard shadow and the tree should have a soft shadow. This might not be the way it would look in reality but it is the effect I am after. I went through the manual and decided composing it in Photoshop would be easiest way to achieve this effect. What I was hoping is that shadows could be based on lights that are influencing the object because lights that aren't influencing the object still make shadows of the object. Sorry for being long winded. If anyone knows anymore ways to achieve shadow independence I'd appreciate it. Maybe in the future vue could have this type of control.

I feel for you and have no solution. I have the problem when I collapse identical materials and then change the pose of the figure. Vue reports the change and updates without keeping the materials collapsed. My solution is to do much planning ahead.
