The only way I know of is to edit the cr2 file in a text editor.
Another quesiton for everybody. Is there a way of getting rid of a material zone in Poser
instead of having to edit the cr2 file in a text editor?
The grouping tool lets you create a new material zone but I haven't figured out
any way within Poser to delete that material zone if you made a mistake.
Once it is created it seems to be there forever.
Thread: Does anyone have any information about DAZ Victoria 4? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - Ya know half V3's breast morphs are to make them smaller... I just don't get why people complain about the default shape. It's also not like she has GINORMOUS bizarrely wide spaced boobs like Dina. Message edited on: 03/17/2006 12:06
In fact one of the morphs gets rid of her boobs altogether, for people with boob-a-phobia.
You have to really work at it to get boobs on V3 so huge that a real person couldn't even
get up off the floor if they had them.
Thread: Dark skin, pale palms | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
What the modelers who make the figures really ought to do is to make the palms and
soles a separate material zone. In the DAZ figures, V3, M3, YT, David, Steph, etc.
the whole hand and foot is a separate material zone, as in the fingernails and toenails.
If they were thinking they also should have created a palms and soles material zone.
Anybody looked into the idea of using the grouping tool to create separate material
zones for the palms and soles? Then you wouldn't have to mess with the materials
for all of the different body parts to get them to match the hands and feet.
Like I noticed in your example you were showing the setting for the nipples.
This way you could save the character with the new palm and sole material
zones and then when you want to apply a skin texture, you just apply it to the
whole body at once with a mat pose, and then you only have to tweak the palm
and sole material setting.
Thread: Poser .BUM File Size | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - My working V3 is 256MBs, and my M2 is 100MBs. The other day I decided to make each .PZ3 as small as I could get it without losing quality.
V3 went really well I was able to run CollectSceneInventory.PY, and .RAR the result to the tune of 12MBs!
M2 has been a totally different story though. I'm still stuck around the 50MB mark, but at least I know why. It's got to do with two, 25MB and 10MB, .BUM files I have for the Head and Body!
What are some ways to get around these, are there alternatives, can I shrink the file size, what is a good editor?
= )
Yes, like Belle says, convert your .bum files to .jpg files.
First change the extention from .bum to .bmp
Then you can load them into a paint program.
Then save them as a .jpg file.
Then load your pz3 file into a text editor and change
every instance of .bum to .jpg. Be sure to make
a back up copy first until you know it works.
If you have Windows just use the Windows Explorer
to change the extension, the Windows Paint program
to load the .bmp and save it as a .jpg, and Windows notepad
to edit the .pz3.
Afterwards you can delete the .bum files and
the backup .pz3 files.
Thread: Making clothing - what's the best (but least expensive) program? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I like using Wings3D. That's the cheapest one I have found and it is relatively easy
to use. I have made several nice items of clothes with it and modified lots of
conforming clothes into dynamic clothes with it too. PhilC has a program
a lot of people like too, but it costs more money than Wings3D.
Depends on how much work you want to put into it I guess.
Thread: Rendering: How long is too long?? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
And did you know that you can make an animation in the preview mode if you
aren't too worried about quality. Animations made in the preview mode take
about 1 to 5 minutes, depending on the number of frames. Also a good way
of checking to see if the animation looks the way you want it to before
spending a lot of time on a rendered animation.
Even with a rendered animation you probably don't need the quality
you would with a still image, so try reducing your quality settings
and see if that speeds it up.
Also using low res figures and smaller texture maps might speed
up your frame renders.
But to sort of answer your question, I made a 1,000 frame animation
of Vicky dancing from a BVH and it took about 8 hours with the Firefly
renderer and it turned out beautiful.
Thread: Any way to put Miki's head on V3's body? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - To swap heads and bodies between DAZ unimesh figures you can use Kamilche's Shapeshifter script (PP and up).
Isn't Miki an E-Frontier figure?
Thread: Need help with incomplete raytraced reflections | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
It might be my monitor, but it just doesn't seem like I see any of his suit. Just his hands,
face, and shirt. That's sort of what led me to ask if there were enough light shining on
him from the direction the reflection would see. Would it be possible to increase the
light intensity shining on the front of his body, or to add another light even that
would highlight the front of his body. You have Poser 6 so a point light might work
better than a spotlight because another thing that could be happening is the
light angle could be to small. With a point light you don't have to bother with that.
Thread: Need help with incomplete raytraced reflections | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Is there any light shining on him in that direction? He looks awful dark in the part that
is reflected. If no light is shining on his leg from that direction, there would be no
light to reflect, just like in a real mirror.
Thread: Can`t create LIGHTS! | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Why on earth do you need nine lights? One with AO and another for shadows is plently.
All having massive amounts of lights does is vastly increase your render time.

I noticed after installing SR3 that when rendering an animation as indivual frames
the Firefly render craps out if the bucket size is above 32. I usually render at 256
for the bucket size for still images, but when I went to do animations I was just getting
garbage instead of images until I dropped the bucket size way down.

Quote - I haven't experienced any of the problems listed as fixes in this release. I use a wacom tablet and haven't any troubles either. I don't use the cloth room at all as a matter of fact if the cloth room and face room where ripped out of P6 that would suit me just fine.
I too hope that this SR3 release does not cause troubles down the line and as far as P7? I haven't heard a thing myself.
Cheers,
Micheál
I'd scream bloody murder if they got rid of the cloth room.
I hardly ever use conforming clothes anymore. Dynamic
clothes just look and move so much more naturally.

Quote - cool!!! thanks for that!!! the last service release was a huge fix!!!!!!! so hopefully this one is a good one!!!!! but i haven't really had any issues with poser since the last one!!!!!!
Haven't had any problem either. Hope this one doesn't create problems.
Hate to have to do a re-install to get back to SR2.
Thread: creating clothes question | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - Sorry for the newbie question here. How would one start of in learning to make clothing for Poser ( 5 ). I've always wanted to design some pretty cool ( hopefully ) cotumes, but don't have a clue where to start. Any help would be appreciated. Will post some images this week, just to show i have a clue ok, haha. Thanks ! Greg
You could try Virtual Fashion from E-Frontier or Clothing Creator from PhilC.
Those would probably be eaiser than fooling around with a modeling program.
