@RAMWorks have you tried changing the scatter group ID numbers so parts that touch don't interfere with each other? That sometimes can help quite a bit.

@bobbesch Thanks! Yes, that is one of the full hair preset examples with a modified pink map. The hair system really is easy to use and once you have textured a hair model you can save your work in the library and never have to do that part again.

@RAMWorks andother thing you might investigate is if the black parts of your transmap are truly black. If not you'll get transparency where you can still see the mesh.

Here are my render settings. I set the pixel samples between 5 (really rough) and 70 (usually pretty smooth). If it is still noisy after 70 samples I will run de-noise at about 50%. Make sure your buckets are large as discussed elsewhere on this forum. I run and older RTX2060 Super. On P12 I could get away with a bucket of 256, In P13 I can do a bucket size of 512. Those 3060 cards should be able to handle even larger buckets meaning faster render times and less power consumed while rendering.

@FVerbaas bump maps SHOULD be derived from the skin texture maps. Otherwise you just have that fake concrete look to the bumps. I never could stand the look of procedural bump maps for skin.

something a little more complex than my usual. enclosed room lit from windows by HDRI and a sun lamp + my photo flash light set for fill.

@bobbesch Great lighting and camera settings! I would smooth out the bump a bit and watch for those sharp transitions (lips-face, iris-eye white-pupil). I have a freebe eye texture set here in the free stuff section that can help.

Also, the shader I made for RAMWorks is not the same as my P13 shader here. He had a requirement of it working in P12 and P13 so I made a new shader that would do that.
