Subject: why the notifications for 2 year old posts?

Got a notification today for activity in a thread I was subscribed to from this Poser forum. The last post activity was from Sept. 15 2020. So either the notifications were 2 years late or they were somehow getting re-sent by the server.

That has happened before for me.

I wonder if the zombie threads were bumped up by a spammer, the spam was deleted by a mod, so to us, it looks like we were notified for nothing.
