Nice Dog Terri, It took me quite a while to learn to use the vertex modeler. Two things that help me are 1) keep it simple until you have the basic shape that you want and 2)if the model is symmetrical model one side and then duplicate it with symmetry and weld the seams together. I know what you mean about being pumped up when things finally fall into place. I'm glad we have this forum to express our feelings when things go right. I've tried to explain my 3D successes to friends and they have no idea what I'm talking about.

I also started out in printing, way before computers. When I started we used a letterpress to do the numbering jobs. I somehow ended up as a technology buyer in the County's Puchasing Department. Keith

I couldn't find 3D World Magazine locally so I purchased the February issue directly from the publisher. I cost aproximately $11.50 and they estimated delivery at 14 days. Oh well, at least I'll have it on a CD.

Thread: Vertex modeler and Zoom To Selection..? | Forum: Carrara
Clint, I don't have any problems naming polygons in the vertex modeler, but splitting up an object into two polymeshes bugged me for a long time. I finaly found that after you select and detach the polygons all you have to do is use the cut and paste functions. When you paste the polygons back into the vertex modeler Carrara will allow you to give the polymesh a name. As for the zoom to selected I could never get it to work in the vertex modeler either. Here's what I do. In the vertex modeler 1. select the polygons you want to detach. 2. use the detach command in the selection menu. 3. use the cut command 4. use the paste command By using cut and paste Carrara will allow you to name the now detached mesh. I find that naming the meshes makes selecting meshes in the vertex modeler a little easier. If you want the props as a separate vertex model you will have to add a vertex model to the assembly room and paste the detached mesh into it. I hope this all makes sense, I'm not real good at explaining things. Keith

"UV Mapper" by Steve Cox works great for creating UV maps. Here is his URL http://home.pb.net/~stevecox/ Hope this helps. Keith

what I listen to varies with my mood. Lately I've been listening to a lot of Enya, Fleetwood Mac and Old Radio Shows. Keith

UV mapper is a program created by Steve Cox. It creates UV templates from .OBJ files for the creation of texture maps. It's available at Steve Cox's web site. http://home.pb.net/~stevecox/

Thread: WAY! OT: IE or Netscape? | Forum: Carrara
At work I use Both IE and Netscape. The IS dept were I work standardized on Netscape but because of some problems with an intranet application they had to install IE. At home I use IE. I just like IE features a little more than Netscapes.
