Thread: More shots from the Botanical Gardens | Forum: Photography
cynlee - Thanks for checking the photos out. The shot at the cactus greenhouse was a spectacle to see me shot. I am a very short, but very large fellow. I was wearing my camera backpack (which is green). I was laying stomach down on the ground to get this shot, in the background I thought I heard some little kid ask his parents what type of fat turtle that was crawling on the ground!! lol! Doug - I love ladybugs, the turtle shot would have been better if I had my longer zoom on, as it were, I was trying to get closer why carrying my tripod, and it slipped. Once it hit the ground the turtles all dove into the pond. Got to work on my stealth technique (as much as a 290lb old fat man can) LOL

While I think it is the problem with adding glass in front of the lens, that is causing the poor picture quality. Most of these tele-converters are for video cameras with much lower resoultion. Only tele converters made for the camera or a few "well" known brands work with prosumer cameras. You have to consider what LostPatrol suggested. When you increase the focal length with an extender, then the camera shake is also increased. If I shot a photo with a 50 mm lens at 1/60 of a sec and got a sharp photo, it would be very doubtful that I could achieve the same with a 200 mm lens. The longer the focal length the harder to hand hold and get a sharp image. So while your 1st photo is sharp, increasing the magnification of the image, increases the chance of camera shake. But again, I think it is the tele extender poor quailty that is causing this. The problem is there is no way to tell unless you use a tripod, or make sure you have a very fast shutter speed. I am trying to remember but I can't, what type of camera do you have?

Michelle - Thanks. Kim - Just gota love those baby birds! vlaaitje - Patience is not a strong point with me, so I am having to work hard at waiting. LOL tizjezzme - Thanks! That is what I like about that photo also. Damia - Thank you, but nothing special about these shots, than can't be done with just about any camera. Of course having a telephoto lens helps.

I don't use my ISP for hosting. I have purchased my own domain and purchased a hosting package from a hosting service. For less than a $100.00 dollars a year you can get enough webspace and your own domain name to run a small to med. Photography business.

I hope to shot some racing this summer. Nice shot, but looks like you got some dirt on your lens.

I think you did a great job without a tripod. Of course a larger version may show different. I would go back and shoot again, just because it looks like a great place to shoot
