[[ "Sham's" books are ALL turds.]] NOW, NOW, NOW, I'm ashamed of you! He simply does not deserve that kind of FLATTERY! His books have literally light-years to rise before they can qualify as the LOWEST kind of SHIT! His Bryce obscenity is one of only two books I have bought in my life which I then dumped directly in the GARBAGE where they so rightfully belonged.

As far as I can tell, the ONLY reason to have a pdf file is so that nobody can copy any of it into anything else. There's NO explaining the GIGANTIC file size when compared to the same text done in something else like html - except that maybe adobe wanted the files to be as unwieldy and unmanageable as possible.

For God's Sake don't buy ANYTHING written by the SHAM (Shamms Mortier) - that's LITERALLY throwing your money away. Back when I was new to Bryce I WASTED money to buy his Bryce book, which was a total piece of pointless SHIT, incredibly BADLY WRITTEN and far far LESS informative than the manual. It's one of the few books I ever actually threw in the garbage (within a week of buying it).

There is a program called "Bryce Librarian" available at wolfiesden.com which allows you to swap preset library files in & out of the Bryce presets "on the fly" while working in Bryce. I've used it ever since I was on Bryce 3. I have about 50 different preset library files and swap them in and out of the "Boolean, Mountains, Tutorial, & User" categories all the time. I have the library files in the "storage" area organized by type of prop, i.e. about 2 dozen for different architectural elements, several for trees, etc., and so forth. I've found that by dividing them by class and having lots of libraries I can keep the size of each individual library obp down to around 50 Mb - makes for quicker swapping and doesn't eat so much memory when loaded in Bryce. Until I can afford a new computer and upgrade to Bryce 5 to get the library structure available there, this is the next best thing. It does objects, mats & textures, but not skies.
Thread: Props does not render | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Same thing happened to me with assorted jewelry on a character. One render was OK, the next day I opened the scene and none of the jewelry would render. I deleted it all and re-introduced the props, and then it worked. Freaked me out at the time. Interesting to know I'm not the only one poser has done this to.

Win98 and Netscape 6.2 on a Pentiumsaurus (P-II). When I upgrade it will be to Win2Kpro. No way will I EVER use xp/spyware/your-data-is-ours-to-abuse-at-will, and I HATE HATE HATE Internet Exasperator in all variations.

[[I find it amusing...especially the idiotic ?Quit Moaning? and the ?buy a pc??]] Yeppers, it's just as amusing as the idiotic "buy a Mac" which is the macusers' SOLE answer to EVERY single thing that EVER comes up about pc's.

[[ I think it's probably something only Internet explorer can handle.]] Translation: I think it's another of those things written specifically so that ONLY IE can use it, and deliberately designed to shut Netscape out.
Thread: What will you do when you get Poser 5? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
By the time I can afford to upgrade from my prehistoric P-II to a better computer that will run it, and then actually get P5, I'll probably be looking wistfully at all the art being made by people using P9 and Bryce 10.

Well Ericof SD, now that you're converting to MSTurd, you'll get to experience all the random changes that it will make in your document formatting (i.e., make a change to text on p. 30, and find that Turd has moved a graphic from p. 12 to p. 8 and now will NOT let you move it back, no matter what), it's refusal to let you change things (again, totally random and unpredictable) requiring total deletion and retyping from scratch of various blocks of text, the frequent crashing and document corruption and resultant loss of files, and the consistently user-hostile approach to EVERYTHING that's such a BIG feature of the 'product.' Enjoy (I will admit Corel seems to have totally blown it with their latest version, though their WPOffice2000/WP9 suite works very well. Trust them to screw up a good product.)
Thread: New interior concept (part 2) | Forum: Bryce
Yep, if you have shadows set to off, it affects all lights. Also, whatever level you have shadows set to for sunlite will also apply to all other lights. The default "90" makes shadows way too intense and black for almost any scene. I keep the shadow setting at around 35 for better realism.

Bikermouse - That's "Quasimodo" - there's a pun in the name too. Though the story is set in France, in Italian "quasi-modo" means "semi-fashionable". (That's the same 'modo' that came to us in the French-derived phrase "pie la mode" [literally meaning pie "in the fashion."]) I think it's a hoot to look at ol' Quas and think "semi-fashionable, oooooooo."
