Subject: About thumbnails...

The galleries are full of good pix. Lately, I see rather a lot posted without thumbnails. To those who don't use thumbnails: No offense, guys, but if there's no thumbnail, I won't click, period. I know a lot of others who take the same approach. If you want more views on your pics, I'd suggest you add some thumbnails to make whatever you're posting a bit more enticing. There are a number of FREE, easy-to-use thumbnail programs available. Try them.

Allen, Sometimes I render an image at work, and unfortunately, I don't have any kind of image processing program here (well, Microsoft Paint, but that's it.) And I personally haven't found a way on that to resize an image to make a thumbnail. And it would be a very big hassle to zip the image and send it to myself at home so that I can make one. To be honest, I kind of feel bad when I don't have a thumbnail, and I'll usually apologise for it when I post the image. Just remember, you may be missing out on some really good images! (Especially mine!! Lol!) The one thing that I hate is the plethora of 700 to 900 Kb images in the galleries! Not all of us have cable, y'know. Those are the ones that I pass by.

I'm with allen, use thumbs. No need to spend time surfing junk. Its easy to make that decision with thumbs.

Miden - agree about huge pics, those people need to learn about jpg compression. Still, there are lots of freeware thumbnail makers out there. Just search any of the freeware/shareware sites like Tucows or Nonags software. They're small, easy to use, and free. If you have Bryce installed at work so you can render there, you should be able to install a free thumbnail maker. I may miss good pics by not clicking where there's no thumbnail, but since my time available to surf pics is limited, I just can't waste time clicking on a bunch of "no thumb" posts only to find that they weren't anything I'd want to see. Been there, done that, did NOT buy the T-shirt (won't go there again). With a thumbnail you at least have a clue as to what the pic is about. In the final analysis, the decision is yours, but if you don't use thumbnails, don't be disappointed if your hit count is awfully low, just learn to expect it.
