Alpha - I've resolved!!! I've a really kool Aerograph at home... opened the shutter in B Pose and cleaned it with the soft and continuous AIR-Jet... =) Better than using the Compressed-air can that contains freon... =P Worked really good... and no need of the power supply... =)

oh... another D100 enthusiast... well guys... this little AMAT Digital reflex seems pretty cute... =) It should have an affordable price (nearly 3000Euros) and a promise good results. well... nearly half the cost of the D1x... rumors said it should cost as much as a standard Nikon F5. The CCD has little more power compared to the D1X one; tho the D1X one has superior quality on his side. The main differences are: The Body, the electronics, the pre-processing, the quality of the reflex system and an overall reduction of the quality of the mechanics. BTW... a really good choice if you want a digital reflex! The main problem (it's a D1 serie problem too) is the software. It's really, really, REALLY shitty. If you compare to the Kodak's Reflex Software dotation the result is that Nikon has understood anything of the Digital post-processing. The Drivers are unexistant, the NikonView Software is buggy, dated and unuseful... the rest of the utils are crap... the Photoshop plugin too.. Really nice machines but really crappy software...

Alpha - have you ever cleaned it? I mean... i've seen discordant opinions on how to clean the D1's ccd... what is your method?

Alpha - humm... i don't think so... I've bought the camera few months ago... used it really often tho. I'm inspecting the optics... and i've noted that the UV filter on the 70-200 i've used to shot the pic is very dirty... it has a lot of halos on it... it's new and i've never cleaned it... maybe it could be that... i haven't noticed this spot on the other pic i've taken.... dunno....

If you have HI-Quality Images (BIG ONES) you can use tools like QTVR Authoring Studio 2 or VRToolbox to compose images and panoramas. The final result needs some postwork and are pretty hard to use if you are not used to QTVR, but in general can haste a long work a lot. They can make opticals corrections too; so you can concentrate to "match" the colors and the patterns of the stitched images and not worry too much of the lighting differences and proportions. Nice tools if ya know how to use 'em... =) The drawback is that are pretty costly...

For this stuff i've used my Nikon D1x, a Sigma 70-200 optic on the first and a Nikon 35-70 in the second one. a light UV filter. No tripod.

Thread: Question & some advice... | Forum: Photography
Hummm... I agree with everything Bsteph and slynky said... I love DARK REB and YELLOW Filters too when i shot on film... (and i shot only B/W film when not on Digital). Anyway... a couple of additions: The best tripod you can buy is a MANFROTTO. It is an Italian product, but the really best on the market (yeah, of course, Kaidan is better). Manfrotto's tripods are really sturdy (my father has one bought in the '70 and never broke) and has a large amount of available upgrades (QTVR Heads, Stabilyzers, hooks, interchangeables heads and so on...). The definitive tripods. Hummm... good additions to digital photographers are COLORIMETERS... they really comes in handy when you retouch your photos in photoshop. Kodak makes good and affordable ones... AH! remember to put 'em in every side of the pic if you can. I suggest a Circular polaryzer too... it comes in handy when you shoot through glass or when other reflective surfaces are around (water and so on...) If you have a Digital camera good enough maybe there's some kewl optical adder or optional lenses like macros, Wide or Tele. I like Wide lenses very much... and i consider 'em a must to have... Hope i had been useful... =) Artax
Thread: Even rocks rust! | Forum: Photography
wow... really wonderful and suggestive colours... i like the texture of the stone too; but i think that the real hot-spot of the image is the smaller rock on the right... the transparency and the movement of the water makes a really kewl effect on the colours...
