I have had this problem in p6 as well, even with materials that I have saved. Will click on one of the top nodes first in future.
Thanks

Thread: V4 likeness.....could it be true? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I don't think that modelling V4 after a specific person is such a good thing. One of the better things about the previous Vickys, was that it was the morphs used on the (neutral) base figure that made it useable for different characters. The standard Poser figures already look like a specific persons face, but are not as versatile as a result of this. If you just want a figure to use out of the box, then this is fine. Milla is a very sexy woman, but people's pictures are going to become "samey" in no time at all, if this is all you can do. A neutral face with a Milla morph would be way better.
I haven't seen any pictures of V4 but I'm really looking forward to seeing her, as I have always preferred using the Daz figures over the standard Poser ones.

Thread: Possible Poser 7 Release Date | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
It's gonna be released too late for me to pre-order, will be away for Christmas to visit family so it would likely be delivered while I was away. Not really the best time of year to release something the has to go through the postal system and in the past it's taken a while for stuff to get here.
Never mind, if I hold out there may be a different offer futher down the road.
There's still V4 to look forward to!

Thread: V4 is JUST around the corner now! | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
They'll have to release Poser 7 pretty soon, as with the Christmas post and people going away for Christmas we'll be stuffed if the preorders comes while we are away. Plus I remember all the problems that people in the US had with delivery drivers putting notes through the door saying no-one was in, without even ringing the doorbell to see if anyone was.
In Britain our copies (Poser 5 or 6, can't remember which) were delayed for weeks coming from Ireland, don't know why. At the time there was a thread on this board suggesting that leprechauns were trying to get across the sea in a rowboat piled up with Poser boxes. All I can say is that this time I hope they use Santas elves instead!!!
As for V4, M4 etc, I think that they will wait until the fuss from P7 dies down a bit, so they can say "hey look at these great new figures" to anyone who may be dissappointed by the standard P7 ones.

Thread: Simulating old camcorder footage | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
If you have a cd writer, a dvd player that can play vcd's, and a video recorder, you could put a low res copy of the 3d clip in mpeg format on cd (PAL is usually 640 by 480 pixels but I would do less). Hook up a scart cable from the back of the dvd player to the video recorder. Record from cd to vhs (the older the tape the better, if you want lots of "noise"). Then just capture the footage back to the computer the way you did with the original footage. It's a long way round but maybe the best way of doing it without using video editing software. Black and white is alot easier to age and match in, colour is surprisingly hard.

Thread: My Final Guesses on Poser 7 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - Ok, i dont understand this. you seem to have decided to get P7 yet you decline to purchace it until they are no longer offering free content with it?
I bought the limited edition of Poser 6 with the Winter Queen, which I have never used and couldn't get the hang of the edition of Shade that came with it. I'm still using the 3d program that I used before. I wish that I had waited until the edition with Miki had come out. Much more useful, and I know of others who thought exactly the same. There's nothing wrong with waiting until some of the bugs get fixed. They may release another edition, they may not, but it's nice to be able to run the program on your computer without having to wait for an update so that it will.
I think that one of the two remaining features will be the tools that allow you to create moles scars etc. This has been mentioned in the new edition of 3D World. Who knows what the other will be? If it's better than the animation layers, it could be a doozy!

Thread: Poser 7 New morphing tools | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
To be fair to 3Dworld mag, they can only go on what they are told, or can speculate from information they are given at the time. Software deadlines get pushed back all the time for different reasons. Sometimes it isn't quite finished on time, or perhaps to avoid it being released the same time as another piece of software.

Thread: Speculation on Release Date of Poser 7 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Seeing as EF are releasing details of the "7 reasons" at about one a week, I would guess at another five weeks or so (including this one). Just in time as a Christmas present, as long as the delivery times aren't too long.

Thread: E-Frontier Announces Poser 7! | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
The reasons to buy Poser 7 marketing statagy would have been ok if they had trickled out the information gradually before you could pre-order it! That way people would know what they were buying. Why buy something when you don't know what it does? Also with the limited edition it says about the "exclusive" black box with Sydney on it. What!!! Who cares about what the so**ing box looks like, it's the software inside I'm bothered about! Unlike Star Wars figures etc, I can't see people in 20 years trying to flog unopened mint condition boxes of Poser on the internet for huge sums of cash.

Thread: New Motion Capture Data in Poser 7 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
"with any luck it may capture data from imported video".
I too wish that it could do this, so that it could capture the camera movement of a video file used as the backgound and matchmove the poser camera to it. If it could do this I would definatly upgrade to version 7. However the announcment says "motion capture data" which implies that it will be pre-created BVH files for the figures. It also probably means that the motion files will only work correctly for the new standard Poser 7 figures.
As I have already said before I was happy with the improved lighting system for matching scenes to a background in p6, but would have liked the ability to matchmove the background or some other improvements to the animation side of the program. I dont think a few BVH files would make me want to upgrade, and I have heard that v7 may have animation layers ( a feature of Poser 6 but not developed completely?) so that you can cut to different cameras without having to edit footage together. Useful for some I suppose but if you're creating a long animation with lots of camera angles I think its still best to render them seperately and then edit them together later. I'll most likely wait for version 8 to be announced and see what that has in store. Still there are still new features to be announced for this version so....you never know!

Thread: E-Frontier Announces Poser 7! | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I think that unless there are any major additions to the program itself, then I will wait to see what Poser 8 will be like before I decide to upgrade again. It may have just been the picture that I saw, but for a "realistic" character, Syney appears to be pretty stylized. I thought that after the "face that only a mother could love" that was Judy in Poser 5, that Jessi was a big improvement and so was Miki. Perhaps they realise that most people are more likely to buy the new Daz V4 and M4 figures. The other reason, perhaps that they make more money keeping the good figures as something that you have to buy in addition to the main program. If they bundled the G2 figures in with Poser 7, then it could swing it for the people who have not already bought them. Too many new programs all coming out at the same time. They will have to stand out in some way to get me to buy them when they are released.

Thread: Free Hiro | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I know that the base figures for V3 and M3 have been free for sometime, perhaps all of these free releases are due to the fact that new figures will be out soon.
The November issue of 3D World speaks of the imminent realease of V4; with M4 and Girl 2 to follow. These new figures will be "able to benefit from the company's new OptiTex dynamic clothing technology." This technology is able to create clothing that drapes naturally due to it's system based on real-world textile desin technology. " Unlike e frontier's similar Virtual Fashion Basic, released a couple of months ago, OptiTex is said to be capable of creating automatically conforming clothes".
I don't whether OptiTex will be a stand alone product that could create clothes for use in Poser or if it will be a Plugin for Daz Studio. Hopefully it will be the former.

Thread: Any word on Poser 7? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
It's about time they did some more for those of us who use Poser to animate. I was really happy with the improved lighting in Poser 6, and hopefully the buying of Shade by e frontier will bring about more improvements.
The layering would be a really useful tool in allowing to render your animation in one go. What I would really like though, is if they made the cameras more like those in other software programs so that you could import motion tracking data from programs like PFTrack etc, so that the Poser camera would copy the movement of any background vieo files etc. I realise that everyone is used to the way the camersa alreay work, but perhaps a way to toggle or convert from one to the other.
Even if they put a simple motion track program built in, It wouldn't even have to export to other programs then. I would even be willing to pay more for a plugin or special edition of Poser that could do this. It seems a shame that with a program that has dynamic cloth, hair etc and can use video files for its backgrounds, that there is no way to copy the camera moves in them so that your 3d work matches up. Who knows, maybe in Poser 8 or 9.

What I heard was that Icarus was a free motion tracking program that was then bought by Pixel Farm, updated and then became PFtrack etc.

I to also recently discovered Icarus. There was a script for importing camera data into blender, but I have never really used that program.
I think you had to export the data as a text file (human readable file?). Unfortunately I don't know if this format can be converted to a poser camera file or not. After giving us better lighting etc to match objects up with their backgrounds, I would hope that the next edition of Poser would include more support for matching movement with background footage, even if it was an extra that you had to pay for.
