I have had a good look through the "Best Ranking" now that they have been shuffled around by the new standard deviation method, and I must say that I am impressed. A lot of images that were hidden in the depths have now risen to the top. Some of the ones that were already there have been pushed back a bit. I did have one on the first page that is now on page 5, and a few that I could never find now on page 2 and 3. I think this is much better and will help sort out trolls and people who vote harder and bring the cream to the top.

Wow, gone in 24 hours. Self healing bugs on computers... now that would be nice ;) Maybe in the near future. I have had this problem many times. I generally delete the corrupt object and build again. If problem persists, I just put up with it. It's only a design display issue.

Great tute Thomas. You inspire many artists as I see many images that are created from your tutes poping up all over the place. Well done. Well documented and happy Vueing.

Thread: Virtual Memory basics | Forum: Vue
Generally with 2 hard drives, you store the OS and applications on one and the data on the second. This is most prevelent with video dumping and editing, so the OS and apps dont interfer and make you drop frames. As for your virtual... probably best also kept with OS and apps or stick on your 3rd HDD. Another thing to keep in mind is to not share the drives with the same IDE port and keep your CD with your OS HDD. The cheap cost of RAM has allowed me to go to 2 gigs on my render/design box. I rarely go over 1 gig and that includes running Vue, Poser, Photoshop and a dozen small apps all the time (I never shut down).

Generally you should set your virtually memory to the same size as the amount of physical RAM but its best to set it for automatic.
Thread: New computer twice as fast but Vue don't know.... | Forum: Vue
When I got my new box (over twice as fast), the level of complexity within my images increased without me noticing. I, too, was concerned that the rendering time was not considerably faster until I took one of my scenes back to the old box to render and it took days instead of hours. This may be a problem. Another thing to check is for Hyper-threading. This is a new Intel technology that simulates a dual processor on a single chip. I have done experiments on a Dual processor machine (theres a thread on this about 3 weeks ago) but I still don't know the impact on a single processor machine. Go into BIOS and turn it off and re-render (check the time differences)

Sounds interesting. I just did an image similiar to this which you can find in my gallery, though it wasn't created with a fantasy style. Give more details like... what is the picture to be used for, what should the dimensions be (in pixels), do you want a landscape or portrait aspect. Prefer not to talk money in the Forum, though I am interested in what people would ask for a job like this. If you have no one yet, I am interested.
Thread: Free model for this week is ready now....Complete bathroom | Forum: Vue
Thanks for an excellent model. The level of water is the toilet is high for what I'm used to. I notice this in American movies too, when they dunk someones head in, it gets very wet. Here in Australia the water is only about 10cm deep and very low. Are our toilets (dunnies) different or is your model and the movies an exaggeration? Thanks, Mr Concerned ;)

A large thanks to you both, and others, that contribute models to this and other communities. Your work in well appreciated and we get many ideas and inspiration once we see your new models. Thanks.
