there is a valid reason for zipping the runtime inside a folder which describes the product. and that is that mac users have to hand load files from a zip, rather than directing the zip to a runtime and having it autoinstall, due to the fact that the mac distructively overwrites files rather than merging as in the PC. and when they unzip, what they end up with is a generic Runtime folder, this can get confusing when dealing with a bunch of Zip installers, according to some mac Poser users I know. so they tend to prefer that the runtime is zipped within another discriptive folder. PC users are just the opposite obviously. I often wonder why no one every came up with an autoinstaller unzip program for the mac.
Thread: Does Poser need to change or the figures need to change? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - "The more definition there is in a base model, the harder it is to morph it out."
Sorry, wrong.
It's easy to smooth a well defined mesh, but it's very hard to get definition in.
M2 has the best muscle definition in Poserdom.
Yet Stephanie 1 is EXACTLY the same mesh.
you missed the point completely here, sure its easy to smooth out a mesh to create a completely new mesh, but try combining morphs that change the shape, such as facial character morphs, on a base mesh that has a lot of detail and you will soon find the limitations, that each morph needs to fight the base mesh shape to create a new shape and when you combine two or more of those morphs you are basically multiplying that shape correction. thats why starting with a simpler topology but more well thought out mesh flow is always going to give you a more versatile
mesh.
Thread: Rigging Wings | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
so often I hear "there has to be an easy 1 2 3 solution" for a really complex process. why does there have to be an easy solution? if there was an easy solution woudn't there be a lot of really good wings that folded and flexed perfectly? Sometimes solutions are tricky, and there isn't any way to explain them easily.

DAZ - No more than 1 advertisement per week, threads can (and are) removed at staff discretion even if they are only one advertisement per week
Jeni
Sorry Jen, I will take issue with the second part of this statement. Yes the DAZ forums have a limit of one advertisement per week, (and that applies to any merchant, DAZ PA's included, there is no discrimination) but we have never removed a promotion that did not break the TOS, Not once. And the one advertisement per week is also allowed in the the highest read forum on our site.
Thread: v4.2 problem | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - If morph is for V4.0 , ONLY V4.0 will work!
V.1 with EYEBROWS is a DIFFERENT figure altogether. DAZ said "UPGRADE". They were misinformed. Different mesh shape, vertex count and material zones means a NEW figure. The V4.0 or any other than the right morphs will NOT work.. I already ran into that.
That is not accurate, this is an upgrade, the only difference is the added eyebrow mesh, and that should not effect at all anything that was created in V4. Everything from V4.0 works fine in V4.2 as far as I Know. Morphs, Textures, everything for V4.0 should work just fine, some situations may inadvertantly unhide the eyebrow but simply hide it again or scale it to 0.
as far as characters that aren't working in V4.2 for anyone, make sure that you apply the INJ Morphs++ V4 Pose found in Poses/DAZ's Victoria 4/Morph Injections folder before applying the character. if it is not working select the Victoria 4 Body and check to make sure that all the full body morphs have loaded properly.

Renderosity does this right now; they simply don't say anything up-front. Should Merchants now leave Renderosity?
Â
actually to be fair Renderosity indeed does say this up front.

in this day and age sites have to think of any eventuality, like for instance I believe that the 911 bombers used the internet to communicate with each other if one of these sites came across communications of this sort they would need to have the right to do something about it.
Thread: Need a free online texture library with high res images? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - any restrictions? Heck, I just wish I could get textures to do what I want in the first place...;)
looks like there are no restrictions against use in poser textures commercial or free. Conditions of Use Use of the Textures is only allowed under the following conditions: - Private or commercial use - Use in 2D or 3D computer graphics, movies and printed media - Incorporation in computer games, 3D models - Selling 3D models bundled with modified versions of the textures
Thread: Help Please...A4 V4.2 and what gets overwritten and replaced? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
actually I think that coldrake was refering to doing that with V4.1 which actually makes a lot of sense, there will be no more updates for V4.1 so freezing it at its current state won't harm anything, no need to use the !DAZ folder at all for that resaved figure becouse Poser adds all the morphs to the cr2 permanantly on resave. and than you have no reason not to overwrite the !DAZ folder for V4.2 becouse V4.1 doesn't need it any more.
Thread: Help Please...A4 V4.2 and what gets overwritten and replaced? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
yes you can do that, but becouse she wasn't set up to use individual injections before V4.2 Injections werent supported in character packs. character packs created before V4.2 only contained morph poses which don't inject the morphs, they need a readscript in the pose that calls the morph to actually inject them.
Thread: Help Please...A4 V4.2 and what gets overwritten and replaced? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
all of the character addons work fine with V4.2 the only difference is that due to direct requests from quite a few users who complained that having the morphs automatically inject on load made her more memory intensive than she had to be for their purposes, DAZ has set up V4.2 to be completely injectable. so characters that do not use injection poses will not find the morphs they use unless you inject the figure with the morphs++ morphs first. hopefully merchants will see the benifit of including Injection morph poses in the future, just as they did with V3.
Thread: Help Please...A4 V4.2 and what gets overwritten and replaced? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
actually thats not going to work, Poser will invariably read the wrong runtime, you need to overwrite V4.1 with V4.2 in order for everything to work correctly, both Poser and studio have a really bad habit of reading the wrong Deltas file when loading morphs. (possibly completely disconnecting the second runtime from your poser library system when you use her, and do the opposite when you use V4.1, might work, but its not recommended). as far as the joints and stuff you mention in your first post there is absolutely no difference between the two. the joints are exactly the same.
Thread: Fixing M3 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
don't know what to tell you, as I said this was a technical problem that the M3 files had on innitial release that was fixed extremely soon afterwards, so I have no idea why you would be having problems if you are sure you are using new versions of the base figure and bodymorphs becouse that problem hasnt existed since.
Thread: Fixing M3 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
you have deleted the files from both runtimes? including the !DAZ/Michael 3 folder? I would try an experiment, since you have redownloaded and reinstalled, which runtime did you reinstall into? hopefully into your default. now try removing every other runtime from your library list other than your default, and downloads(Becouse you cant remove the downloads folder). now close and reopen poser and try loading and injecting M3. is there still a problem? if not than I would say you still have a runtime containing an old version of the morph deltas somewhere.
Thread: Fixing M3 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
yep if you are still getting the problem than you need to redownload the body morphs. also if you are using more than one poser runtime, make sure that you only have one Libraries/!DAZ/Michael 3 folder
Thread: Not much credits in gallery section | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
You ran into a bit of a sore spot in the community without knowing it 76claudia2205, this subject comes up every once in a while. There were at one point a few merchnats who made it part of their EULA that they be credited whenever their product was used, and there was a lot of backlash against that. I think most of the members look at it from the point of not feeling like they have to promote a merchant when they buy their stuff, more than that they dont want to help another user find what they used in a scene. that factored in with the shear difficulty of actually keeping track of where all the content you used in a scene came from, when you are working out of several runtimes with thousands of items in them, discourages the practice of crediting content.
