pure IDL is gonna give you some of those splochy shadows. I get them too on things like jewelry next to skin. If you use a bunch of other lights like that you'll clean up those shadows but loose the realism of the IDL.
I dont use anything but indirect lighting any more. no light in my scenes except IDL.

Im guessing that there is an actual "light emitter" in PP2012. My example is using an ambient mat on a square which lights up the surrounding stuff in the scene.

no. that is how it is working on my system. I just confirmed by lighting the default Andy figure with a light emitting square. turned it off in the Hierarchial editor and he doesnt light up any more in the render. Im using PP2010 maybe it works diff for all you other folks.

are you getting your IDL from a light or a light emitting prop?

can't you just go into the hierarchy editor and tick off the eyeball making them invisible?

you havent said what browser and OS you are using. It's gonna look different depending on how you are viewing it.

that morphing face thing reminds me of an old  program I have on my Mac called Canoma. Canoma converted photos into 3D architecture. I think Adobe bought them out soon after the program was released.

if you arnt familiar with how to remove the bloatwear on your new PC you can take it to a repair shop and they will have a service for this. I used to work at  the repair shop in a computer store and this was one of the things we did to new computers as a paid service. you can even have them customize the menues for you so you can read a list instead of looking at icons if that is what you want.
new PC = make recovery discs, install anti-virus, update OS and drivers. if you dont do this stuff you'll have problems. W7 had a recovery feature for backing up your entire computer including user installed softwear.

catsuit/bodysuit with bump map for droplets and a transparent/reflective mat. You could use this with any figure texture you wanted to. basicly it becomes a layer of water texture over the skin of the figure.

make your recovery discs before you do anything crazy. 2nd: W7 might work on the machine but things like the cd rom or sound controls, wifi, ethernet (the stuff in the device manager) probably wont. The computer companies dont bother writing drivers for  the old OS since it's got the new one OEM. you'll have a computer that will be in permanent safe mode. This isnt the case with custom built desctop PC's but laptops are pretty unforgiving about this stuff.

Id also like to note that in these last two renders I corrected levels in photoshop. I have to do this with pretty much all my renders.

I turned down the reflect to 1 and removed the HSV node.Â
It doesnt seem that all values follow the same rule in poser mats. In the reflect node for instance, the softness control make the reflection softer till you get to a value of 4, any more than that and it starts to look ugly. other controls go on the 1=100% rule and interact with other things as you have mentioned in other posts.Â

Miss Nancy
Im using PP2010 so if any of that needs sss or any of the new nodes that only come with 2012 im out of luck. Im waiting for the new version of Poser to come out.
Ill take another look at the shader but heck if it is working now why mess with it.
Im a cheat...The coif is Adamthwaits ninja hood from his huge M3 spy pack in RMP. I could not find a coif anywhere and also had to make my own jousting lance because I couldnt find any of those either.

forgot to say that I also set my PDU back to PDU from centimeter. I think I had changed that setting a few weeks ago.
