Thread: Unwritten Rule surfacing: The Naked Lady Rule | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
That's why there are so many of them. What I find of interest is how many naked ladies are created by ladies. Ladies are beautiful, so what better subject matter can there be. Nothing makes a field of plain grass, or mountain scene, or roman temple more eye catching than placing a naked or half naked lady into it. It becomes even more interesting when augmented morphs come into play. An image of a plain sword is much sharper when held by a naked lady. Armor is nothing more than a shapely tin can unless filled by a naked lady. Naked men don't seem to pose themselves near as much in the gallery here, not sure why, but it be nice to see some variance in the word naked from both sides. Naked ladies have more parts per million than the limited male that only has a few things to sport, there are much more options in the facial expressions and hair alone, nevermind the boob wheel turns. Naked ladies appeal and sell much more. The banner ads reflect this too.

Well put yansaen. One thing I would like to add is to make certain when installing things, it is done clean and very organized. Make sure you have control of your computer and software and not the other way around. Also when you uninstall, make certain it is also a clean one. Nothing worse than a lot of junk all over the place. And make certain to maintain that computer you depend on so much by defragging it and cleaning it regularly and checking common things, the more you use it, and make sure anyone else using it does it all exactly the same way as you.

manleystanley, what you have to ask yourself is whether you learn anything when you come here, no matter how small or big?
Do you see stuff that rewards your eyes and mind in a nice way and also in a bad way because both can have they're input upon your own imagination?
Do you get to know people here for good reasons or bad?
Do you get inspired or get turned off realizing what you should or most certainly should not do in regards to art and cg.
Believe it or not, even the hot 20 should teach you something.
One thing you have to remember is that at least this forum is still free, and isn't laden with pop ups and spyware and adware and trojans and even hidden viruses.
There may be much controversy here but that's kind of nice in a way because it takes away from the drollness of consistency many places do have.
This forum is like the enquirer of cg art, great to read and complain about while your lined up at the express check out counter with your artistic hopefullness in your basket and those hot 20 folks are just like those nuances that like to bud in your line with more than eight items and get away with it.
At least it's fun at times, and your alive and online and have a computer and can freely say that this is just a lame mall without having a security guard frisk you and escort you out after taking away your basket.

Don't know who Mathulsa was, whether some great time artist or some nethermonk of the Tibetan mountains, but I've been told out and hereabout that this hot 20 isssue has been going on since the stone ages of this forum, right after wannabees figured out how to get noticed without much creative effort and just loads of derrier smooching. Sounds pretty icky. Feel bad for the folks running this place since it is difficult to fix other than getting rid of the hot 20 or making members wear pants while online here.

Extra 2 gigs ram won't do much of anything anyways, whether windoz or the computer could handle it or not. You can run poser with 128 ram nicely but I would not recommend it. Most people do very well with 512 to one gig. I have even heard of there being too much ram for poser on a forum somewhere, not sure if it was here or elsewhere. Someone complained about poser having great difficulty due to having too much ram available.

Thanks brainmuffin. I understand that part. What I am confused about is that a moderator/ administrator is siding with the members against the decision to close the den with post 15 and has a very valid point at the same time. I thought the decision was unanimous. Suppose not everyone on the forum staff has to agree, just didn't expect to see it written here for us to see.
Thread: Blown away by the realism in this Poser image | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Not really impressed because I can take a digital photo and do better than this with eyelashes and all. Is realism truly art? Or is art something creative? Show me something artistic, it can be a stickman, a mere ball in poser, a pair of teeth, as long as it is artistic and different and has some uniqueness and style. Photographs have been around forever so why use poser to make photographs that my digital camera can do? I understand that realism is important to so many but it's not what makes blown away art, unless your trying to create anatomically correct, perfect images for science or drug store acne commercials or work for a game company. How many here work for Maxis? It's nice to make realism, but sometimes unrealism can land you more attention because it's different and stands out much more in art.

Some artists are now at the point of being embarassed to end up in the hot 20 because their art won't be taken seriously. That's sad.
Thread: Art mall | Forum: Community Center
Lol! That's funny.
There's lots of malls on the net if you put it this way.
Even real malls need to finance themselves so they can exist so you can be there and shop there and browse there and just be comfortable being there with all the other happy folks from all over that go there in droves.
The real malls I go to quite often because I love shopping have lots of artistic values by way of window dressing and many times even artists and artwork are available, and they would have to pay to be there in some fashion, or I assure you they would not be there.
Museums and art galleries even have shops and stores to sell you thngs at. The zoo, any recreational and even most educational facilities sells stuff or have retail benefits.
I guess your suggesting this place is a mall first, art and community second, but then again, even artists need to be able to know what is available to make art with, and suppose the question you should ask is whether it's beneficial to artits that hang out here? Most of the time it appears to be.
I tend to agree with the hot 20 and won't touch that one, because it is a farce, but it always has been and there's really nothing that can be done about it except get rid of it. I have a feeling even then artist wannabees that want to be better than the best will still find a way to be richly noticed, because that's all that is about, being noticed and noticed and noticed.
Look at me, I'm great because everyone is saying wow at me and my work is the best here! Let them have their fun if it gives them some purpose to enjoying their toil, what's the harm when everyone that comes here knows it's a farce anyways, and even visitors can see it for themselves if they have half of any talent for art. Sometimes it almost seems like the hot 20 is there just so people posting have a purpose and to make some innocent contraversy stay alive.

Edit Correction and addon.
Celeron is not recommended for graphics whatsoever because it can burn out at extremes, which poser is. In fact even photoshop will not run well on celeron.
If your getting a hardy, strong system, don't worry.
Try to get an external hard drive just for poser as well, like about 250 gigs.
You will need it.
That way you always have a back up of your runtime folder in case your computer or windowz crashes or gets virus or adware laden which happens far too much these days on our pop up happy internet.
Make sure you also get something like norton viruscan and spyware to prevent internet mayhem, spend the extra cash you would have spent on XP Pro on this stuff instead, because you don't sound like you need more than XP Home Edition for what your going to do. Make certain you get 800 bus too, this is important.
Just found out there is a time limit for editing here

Farside is correct. Was a time windowz could not see past 128 megs of ram, now that limit is 2 gigs, so having 4 gigs is absolutely useless unless you just want to be able to say you have it. From what I've heard, speed and ram are the most signifigant factors, as well as a very big and fast hard drive. These are all important for a pc to have although I also understand that because poser is very energy consuming on any pc, it is not a good idea to have a celeron or anything but a pure intel chipset. I know several folks that had their computers literally burn up with rendering because the computer could not take the stress involved to render poser day in and day out with these newer meshes and textures. A graphics card is totally useless for poser at this time, you can add this later if ever need it. XP Pro is absolutely not necesarry at all and just an extra cost because xp pro and xp home run graphics exactly the same way, no dif, except that xp pro may actually give you more trouble with poser because it may have more stuff running in background. Use XP Home Edition unless your networking your home. Make certain you learn how to control your computer so that when your running poser you can turn off excess programs running in background that will also affect poser. Have fun.

Thread: No! You ain't an artist! Poser is crap! | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Enjoy your poser Oliver. Poser is a wonderful artistic tool that can save countless hours of pencil, pen or brush time if used properly and not just for rendering a pair of boobs. Not everyone can create their own 3D meshes, that's why we have experts that can do that part. Most people I have met online or in real life that can create meshes can't do artwork for beans with what they make, not for the life of them, not even a banner ad, but they can build amazing stuff with 3D meshmaking software. On the other hand, there are those like you, who can take that stuff and put incredible graphical meaning to what is made by someone. We all have our roles, our creativity as artists, our niche. You don't need a paint brush anymore to make real art or be able to say your an artist, an artist comes in all forms and ways and depends upon the tools and the creativity and whether it gives pleasure to others when they finally view it, don't matter how it got on your canvas or medium, 'it works' is all that matters. Unfortunatly, being creative enough to make something work well, can also create jealousy and envy because not everyone could even push a render button the right way to make a beautiful picture in poser that works well, because they just haven't a clue, let alone make something that works well enough to shine, like you managed to do. Enjoy what you can do and keep enjoying it, and don't let the poserbugs bite.
