https://www.renderosity.com/marketplace/products/103140/suburban-living this? If so, It looks like you can load the individual houses and other items. You could just load the portions that are in visible. It might help reduce if there's any strain on your machine

I would recommend rendering at a small size until you have it finished.

I was able to shorten that part. Use the x scale to shorten it
If that doesn't work, make sure it isn't locked. The easiest way to check that is if you can make any changes to it (bend, twist, side-side) then it's not locked.
If it is frozen, go to objects>lock objects and uncheck

The make movie rendering images for each frame was for recovery. If you render directly to video and it crashes at 90% done, you lose all that time. Rendering to images, you still have that work. This is something I thought was standard practice in the 3d world. I was taught to do it when learning other software.
If you want you can set it to turn those frames into a video and delete the stills
While the movie is being rendered, the UI will become unresponsive unless you're rendering in the background. The background rendering might be using up a lot of memory that is causing the slow down

The first is chain break. As you drag a body part, like the hand, it may move a chain of parts, like the forearm, shoulder, collar, chest, etc. If you add one of those to a body part, then it won't move that part. So if you add one to the collar, and drag the hand, it won't move the collar or chest but will the forearm and shoulder.
The second looks like you have bending turned off. You can turn it back on in the properties dial.
