Thread: 3d Software | Forum: 3D Modeling
look at the menu to the left/right of the page you are reading right now, under the heading software forums. Most of the programs listed are 3d applications, and half of them can be used for modelling. Almost every 3d Application can use obj files, either natively or through plugins. Run a search through searchalot.com on anything listed there and see if it does what you want.

a very moving image with a nice message. I love to see images that rely more on an idea and meaning than on cheap hits and 3d gadgetry.

i dont use bryce, so i cant answer your question, but i can give you a recommendation. Try exporting him as an obj file in a few pieces, without including the invisible objects as opposed to making them invisible, and export the clothes seperately too, and then group everything back together once your in bryce. Or maybe i dont have the slightest idea and will be quiet now.
Thread: what are your favorite poser helper apps? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
UVMapper is a must have. I havent used any other poser apps though, and never was really satisfied with most of them. I think id prolly rip my hair out if not for UVMapper though.

Thread: Hair Transparency maps | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
i found a tutorial once that gave me some good ideas, i forget where it was though. But i have used it ever since. I put a thin white curtain over a table and had a female friend of mine lay her head on the edge of the table with her hair going down the curtain. I then put a bright light behind the curtain and took a picture of her hair from the other side. This gave me an incredibly realistic looking transmap that i have been able to edit and apply to nearly every hair prop i have used since.
Thread: how to edit png files?? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
macromedia fireworks uses png as its parent file format. adobe 5.5 handles it well, so i assume every later version does also i believe paintshop can handle png, ui dnt use it so i dont know Whatever Windows XP's default image preview proggy thing is can read png, i think you can use that And if you have microsoft office, the photo editor can read and make basic adjustments like mirroring. Put if your just adding the image to your library, you should be able to just put it in your libray folder and rename it to the same name as the cr2 for that ile. For example, to give Michael 2 an image in the library, just rename the png to Michael2.png. I THINK thats how it works, never tried it myself but give it a shot.

runtimetexturesDazcharacters or runtimetexturesZygotecharcters try those directorys, its the default install for the high res textures.
Thread: Will 2G RAM help with Poser? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
sorry, i was just referring to the RAM bandwidth (in this case, PC800) I asked because the type of RAM would greatly affect its price and we'd know how much of a difference you were talking about before recommending it. Have you considered looking for a DDR system instead? 2 Gb of DDR ram costs only slightly more than 1 Gb of RDRAM last time i looked but has no performance hits in poser.
Thread: export into max | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
if you export it from poser as an obj file, select the weld seams checkbox to merge the grouping levels into one. when you import it into max, make sure you import it as a single mesh instead of as multiple. If you import it into ma as a 3ds file, select the group and just atttach the geometries.

Thread: Will 2G RAM help with Poser? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
2G might speed up your renders a little, but not by much, as poser renders are already quite speedy. It might help running poser and max and photoshop and deep paint all at the same time ( helps me anyway ) but unless you are doing complicated large renders in high tier graphics programs or plan to make abusive use of photoshop and 6000x6000 pixel textures, i think 1 Gig is sufficient for posers use. Save the money from the Gb of ram your not buying and get a higher grade graphics card instead, or get the ram and instead upgrading later, get a new software package to take advantage of all that extra memory.
Thread: Hellllllllllllllpppppppppppppp! | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
open your cr2 file in notepad, or maybe in another editor, and look for the the lines that tell the cr2 which geometry to use. there should be 2 of those lines. Then either change the lines to point at the geometry file you need, or move the geometry file to the folder it specifies. For example, if you have obja.obj in the imbroke folder, and the cr2 calls for figureResFile:Runtime:Geometries:Notbroke:obja.obj ; then you could either a- move obja.obj into the notbroke folder or b- edit the cr2 to be figureResFile:Runtime:Geometries:imbroke:obja.obj . I believe if you read the poser technical FAQ on this forum it might have more details.
