Thread: Let's do this once and for all | Forum: Bryce
It'll probably be a while... Make one sphere and save it as a file... Make a bigger sphere save as another file. Make another sphere original size and move it some amount of BU to the right, do it again to the left, etc. Then repeat the process with cubes, yada yada yada... Then get fancy and start trying with booleans... Sounds like it'll be quite a while before somebody figures out the file code. But it seems like that would be the process of going about doing it. Lotta plug and chug work, eh? Goodluck to whomever decides to take on this task.

Needs that leaking oil/hydraulic fluid. Showing dirt and grime where it sticks to areas where its most likely to leak out. Most military aircraft that have been in heavy use show signs of that, and I'd think that Mechs would show similar signs of heavy use.

That was fun to look at. It had me repeatedly clicking the play button and going "BOOOOM!" LOL. Dunno why tho. Now if only you could use Bryce for video games.

Thread: From a not too intelegent Bryce user | Forum: Bryce
Anyone who says booleans don't increase render time must never have tried an intersection of two symetrical lattice objects. LOL... No fancy lights, transparency or atmospherics either. Of course the 400MHz K6II on my standalone laptop doesn't help either...

Thread: Mt. Dragon WIP....(yes, it's a "twirl"...) | Forum: Bryce
The last one reminds me of a toy with a metal ball. Basically it was a plastic bubble with that shape molded in the bottom. The idea was to try and get the ball to stay in the cup at the top. Heheh... Why do I remember things like that?

Alrighty then... As soon as I can get it on my floppy from my offline 'puter. Also made a simple tutorial on how to make an SR-71 like aircraft. As usual though, it'll be a while before it shows up. Dunno what programs lack wireframe modellers other than Bryce and Poser. So those are the two that I related it to (no "other" category yet.) I'll post a link here after I upload the FlyWing.

Thread: What are you better at? | Forum: 3D Modeling
I like making vehicles. Dunno why, just do.
Seems like aircraft are the easiest. Something about the natural symetry in most cases and the streamlined airfoil shapes. I guess its how subdivision works in Anim8or that makes it natural. Also I like cars, but making a contemporary one still baffles me. I've tried some stuff, and I guess it's still not exactly natural to my way of working in Anim8or. Mainly it's getting the body panels to align, but the wheel wells are what really vexes me. I can do a decent boolean rendition ala Bryce, but sometimes keeping the clarity in what goes where can be fustrating. But I guess that's all part of the puzzle. Never did a whole lot with creatures. I can make 'em. But rigging them so they're posable and making them look convincing... Heh... Well I still need to learn.

Thread: How did they turn out? | Forum: 3D Modeling
11 hours... Quite well understood considering all the glass type materials and atmospheric settings. That will increase render times by a large factor. I bet he could do the same thing using the basic solid materials with atmosphere off, no lights (other than sun), etc. in a half hour. But that's not the point in using Bryce is it?

So, should I try uploading this to one of my Angelfire pages?
As a freebie to play with?
(If I do, it'll be zipped .obj format.)

Thread: Discovered the "Twirl" filter in Photoshop... | Forum: Bryce
This is cool. Could probably do the exact same thing with the twist deformation in PSP. It could come in handy if someone ever wanted to model the impeller part of a centrifugal pump. Or blading on a radial flow turbine. Same is true for centrifugal compressors/blowers/fans, but they're just really another type of cent-pump. Heh... Also I see that A.S. has something in the works for the crest of a wave. Which will be cool. Now people will be wanting to use that boolean surfboard model that came with Bryce. Heheh... Gotta admit, terrains always were the most flexible feature in Bryce. It's all in how you go about using them. :)

Try talking to the authors/programmers of various graphics/modeling freeware and tell them your plight. Who knows, one might take up the cause. Odds are they'll still be quite busy trying to make their own program better, but it couldn't hurt to ask anyways. And if you get lucky, you'll have somebody with a real knowledge base to work from. Just my $0.02. L8R!
