I can relate to whirlingfeather's comments - just got out of work late due to having to save my Apo parameters... lol! I also have to try to explain fractals to my workmates - and they are all IT workers... go figure?!? I've recently had dreams about cool flames happening even... Let's face it... I'm addicted! T.

Both of your works are beautiful! Two different works - two different moods... very nice! Thanks for sharing with us! T.

Thread: Conundrum... need advice... | Forum: Fractals
I'm watermarking all of my newer images with a signature and date now... lol! I really don't mind if someone uses one of my images for a wallpaper - it's if they post it in their own gallery and call it theirs that I could be a bit worried... I run a general discussion site myself, and a few of my members there have been enjoying getting me to do custom sized wallpapers for them of my images - they aren't about to post them to a gallery though - not the arty type - more like an unruly pack actually... lol! Actually I don't think most of them would know what a fractal was if it bit them on the behind... haha! But when someone I don't know suddenly posts an image in their gallery that is so different to anything else they have in there - and it looks almost a carbon copy of one of my images - one could just be a little suspicious couldn't they? To be honest, that particular series that this person appears to have "borrowed" from, I don't think is my better stuff anyways... I've only been playing with Apophysis for about 5 weeks now and I reckon some of my newer stuff is much better... and I hope to continue in that vein... lol! Oh - and all of my stuff is generated from totally random batches in Apophysis that I tweak myself. I have a lot of other people's starter flames that I use for practising on - but I won't use any of those for the basis of one of my own works... I just wouldn't feel right about that... T.

Hahaha - I'm from downunder - and the only Autumn thing happening in March is more rain than usual...lol! Oh... and my birthday... hehe! Actually, in Sydney, the weather isn't cold enough to make the leaves drop until at least mid-April... but I'm sure we could try to accommodate on the Autumn theme... grin T.

Thread: What is a good fractal ? | Forum: Fractals
I think a "good" fractal is one that gets an emotional response from me - pretty much the same as with all art... Whether or not a particular work has nice "clean" lines isn't necessarily what I look for - it's more the overall effect that the complete image has for me. Don't get me wrong - I'm a huge fan of nice crisp clean lines...lol! But sometimes a bit of blur can really bring out a whole different tone to an image. Borders, I'm not a great fan of - but some can really enhance a picture... others destroy the overall effect as far as I'm concerned. I like borders to be simple and not to detract one from the actual fractal - but that's just my taste - I don't use them myself (as yet anyways...lol!) Well - that's my 2 cents worth... T.

I suppose that if one doesn't post images all that often, one could always post a link to their pic in this forum - if the sheer volume of awesome art swamps yours to the second page too quickly... T.

Hi there doneydonydone! I'm a new "fractalist" too - and I'm having an absolute ball playing with Apophysis (www.apophysis.org) There is a nice, easy to read and digest, tutorial written by Lance from the Apophysis mailing list... http://www.thefractalfarm.net/apotutorial/main/main.htm Check the tutorial out and see if Apophysis might be a place to start for you... Thread: New to fractals... | Forum: Fractals
I've definitely thought about it, but I'm having too much fun just with Apo for now...lol! So far all of my work is pure Apo - no postwork - except for adding my little tag on the flame I added to the gallery here. I'm looking forward to experimenting with postwork in the not too distant future... T.

Thanks shemia... I'm really loving this artform a lot... I'm a bit of a geek by nature, so the "traditional" artforms just don't do it for me. I've dabbled a little with Vue D'esprit, but there was just something missing for me using that form to express my "artistic" mood (for want of a better way of putting it) Since finding Apophysis, and fractal art in general, my world has become somewhat larger shall we say? I think I might just have found my niche...lol! ...and finding that niche is full of really great people is an even bigger bonus! T.
